I thought other fandoms were bad about making edits that seem shippy as hell but swear “it’s just platonic” until I met the fucking Batfam fandom 😭
Me reading batcest fics: they need the most fucked up dynamics possible, maybe some dubious consent, fuck buddy shenanigans or overall complicated relationships. Just make it weird or make it messy, or best of all make it both
Me writing batcest fics: they need to check in on consent at least three times, and still feel bad even after they have it, and one of them has to either say I love you or imply deeper feelings at some point. Oh, and also someone has an incest kink.
I like Injustice solely because Damian killed Dick on accident and was so deep in mourning about it that he threw everything else away, took Dick's name, and wore his skin. And truthfully, I think that's the only way a Wayne would handle something like that happening.
u know those bl manhwa tropes where there's like a younger guy (usually the top) saying "im marrying u one day!" to the older guy (bottom) and then the older guy laughs and goes "haha when u get taller than me sure" as a joke bc they're like 5-10+ yrs apart in age gap. some thing happens and theyre separated so when they meet again the younger guy is still as obsessed with the older guy and is seriously pursuing him now bc of their "promise."
that's every damidick, damijay, damitim to me rn. honestly not complaining.
we as fans need to put more actual incest into batcest.
most of the time when i read fics with batcest ships it's "they've never regarded each other as brothers anyway" or "their relationship irrevocably changed while they were away from each other and now they don't see each other as father and son" or "they were never adopted in this au" or "the incestuous nature of their relationship will never be mentioned by anyone or explored in any meaningful way".
where are the fics where the characters see themselves as both siblings/parent and child and lovers at the same time? where one of them had a crush on the other and it never went away even though their relationship transformed into a more brotherly one? where there're complicated family dynamics intertwined with romantic/sexual relationships? where there's slow burn and denial of feelings because of social norms? where there's guilt, anger, horror and other emotions the character experiences when they realize they have very inappropriate feelings for someone?
give me scenarios where siblings have to go undercover as a couple. where they have to share a very small bed and huddle naked for warmth. where they're overcome with an instinctual urge to mate with each other in omegaverse world. where the universe decided they're romantic soulmates despite being perceived by society as father and son. where they find themselves in a fuck or die situation with each other.
i just think it'd make the relationships much more interesting and complex.
