Am I the only one who's disappointed by the Fall of Gondolin announcement? Back when they released Beren and Lúthien, I thought we were finally getting a sequel to the Children of Húrin, but instead it's just incomplete snippets from HoME pulled out into a confusing and unnecessary reprint. The only reason to buy the book was the artwork, and they could have just commissioned a calendar or something. But part of me gets it, I mean, the only complete version of the expanded Tale of Tinúviel was in the Lost Tales, with the latest and longest version being the incomplete Lay of Leithian. It would have been a lot of writing on Christopher Tolkien's part to make it into a novel, so in that sense I get it.
However, the Fall of Gondolin would have been perfect for making into a CoH style novel, as the snippet from Unfinished Tales and the original Fall of Gondolin blend together seamlessly, and only a few edits would be needed to fix any canonical inconsistencies. I'm immensely disappointed that we instead are getting another unnecessary shoddily organized repeat of stuff we've already seen in HoME. At least the art will be great I guess...
