Why has no one discussed Damon in 5x14

discussed how he was shocked Enzo would never leave him, and needed to force him away. How he needed to make him leave, needed to save him from the beast growing inside him,needed to save him because he couldn’t before.

discussed the shock on his face when his brother showed up,because he didn’t expect it, didn’t think he deserved it

discussed his utter lack of shock at the thought of Elena giving up on him. That of all the things that happened that night,this was the most obvious, because he always knew Elena would finally see the truth in him, she would finally stop defending him, eventually everyone does,

You ever watch 4x08 and get extremely excited that they finally did it,that it finally happened,

but then become immediately sad again when you see Damon's face as he wakes up searching for Elena, assuming the worst, assuming last night couldn't have been possible, couldn't have happen, that there is no way Elena actually loved him back,and

then you cry,because by the end of the episode he thinks everything he believed that morning was true.

Waking up covered in blood, he should be scared, should be shocked. But this was normal, this was something he sadly grew used to. Figuring out whose blood it was,was no problem at all, cleaning it up was. Wiping away the all the blood,all the evidence, leaving behind nothing but guilt. This was his life now, a life he would have never chose, but knew he deserved. This was the life of a ripper. A monster, uncontrolled, untamed, and unstoppable. No one could love such a beast. No one but Elena, but would she still love him if she knew, if she knew the truth, knew every morning she woke he was showering off blood, that he used  the steaming water, to hide his tears. That every breath she took could have been her last. That maybe her love wasn't enough, not this time, not anymore.

Sometimes I let myself think that one day Damon will be okay. That one day he will finally be truly happy, at peace and with the world and himself. But deep down I know the truth, I know it will never happen. I know that He has been hurt to much, tormented, and used, physically and emotionally. He will never be able to be truly happy,because he will never allow himself,because every time he allows himself to be happy, the pain somehow sneaks back in. No matter how hard he tries to be a peace there will always be a piece of him, just waiting, waiting for it all to fall apart. Because that's what he's used to, that's all he knows.

Elena is back and she wants answers. Specifically how long she's been gone. But no one can give them to her,no one is willing to admit they let her down. But Damon can't just sit there and watch her suffer. So he tells her something,tells her it was too long,because for him it was. For him it was eternity, and he just holds her, hoping to give her some sort of comfort, even though he doesn't know why.

In Damon's Eyes

Damon lost, no sight of redemption, hungry and alone, searching for his next victim to feed on. Waiting to find that one person who can stop him, praying for it in fact. Then he meets someone, a girl, one just as lost as him, one who reminds him so much of the girl who broke his heart so long ago. So he bonds with her, finds common ground.Unintentionally falling for her,finding things in her that he hoped for in himself, but in that search, in that journey of love and truth. He only saw a mirror, one he didn't like the reflection in, so he pushes her away, hoping to give her a better chance, one he never had. Only pushing her away, hurts more than he thought,hurts them both, and he immediately regrets it. Just like he regrets so much in his life, so he pleads for a chance,pleads for her love again, but she rejects it,or so he thinks. So he goes back to the old Damon,with no sight of redemption,hungry and alone. Only this time it's different. Because this time he knows no one can stop him,this time his only hope is to stop himself, and that scares him more than anything.

It's not the same anymore, its doesn't feel right. Killing used to come so easy to him, it used be a type of release,an escape. An escape from the horrible reality he lived. But this wasn't an escape, it was a prison. One he could never escape.

It was like a game to him. One he always won. He toyed with his victims, until he was done with them. throwing them away, but he couldn't throw him away. This was a game Damon didn't like but he couldn't quit, this was a game no one won. He looked over at his lifeless body, telling himself Enzo would heal. That any minute he would get up. 

(It's been days since he killed Enzo, leaving his body were it dropped, unable to move him.)

He couldn't give up. He couldn't leave him, Not this time. This time he would stay, this time he would wait. Enzo would live just like before, only this time Damon would be there to see it. Enzo would live he had to. Enzo only saw Damon as monster, and in that last moment. Enzo's last moment, so did Damon.
