When the Professor Got stuck in the Snow by Dan Rhodes
rating: ★
genre: fiction
So my book reviews will not be too professional, so if you want a better point of view of the books i’ll review, just search it. The book I'm reading currently now is quite shitty, I hate myself for saying that but it is.
The book is called “When the Professor got Stuck in the Snow” by Dan Rhodes, it is very well written but the story is dull and characters are frustrating. For the people who have read the book and finished (unlike me) might say that that’s the point of the story, but this is what I think:
First there’s the main character Professor Richard Dawkins, he’s a humanist which really I don't really care, but what bugs me is his ignorant and horrid he can get to people who think otherwise. You can get an example of this on every page, literally EVERY PAGE and it tires me because thats the story so far.
The Professor go stuck in this little town and an elderly couple welcomed him in for free and he’s completely mean to them because they believe in god. He is also verbally abusive to Mrs. Potter who welcomed him into her own house!
The story continues with the town doing their small town things and once in a while, asking for his help but him saying no until his male secretary, who he named Smee changed his mind.
Oh yeah, Smee is also another idiot but I think he makes the story a bit better since he had this really good childhood but a crappy adulthood by divorce and depression.
Right now, I still haven't finished reading but I’m on page 195 just to see where this goes, it has been a torture to read it since the book started ok but it lost me in the 6th chapter.
When I finish I might tell you guys if my perspective changed, but I have very little hope.

Just finished reading - 5.12.17 Dan Rhodes’ ‘Little Hands Clapping’.
The absurdity really ramped up in those last few chapters.
"Justine had returned the stone to her, and that morning she had punished herself by taking it to the park, throwing it as high as she could and letting it land on her head. It had hurt, she had seen stars, and now she had a bump, but she was glad to have done it. " - Dan Rhodes // This is Life
-Paint- My girlfriend is so besotted that she can't take her eyes off me. After we've turned out the light she puts on her night-vision goggles, and watched me as I sleep. Quite often I am woken by her sighing and involuntary yelps of happiness. This has been going on for years, and is showing no sign of abating. Once I asked her to stop all this infra-red activity, but it didn't really work I'd wake up to find her covering me in luminous paint, and softly whispering, 'Sometimes I wonder if you know how much I love you.'
