Music Video of The Day: Set Me Free by Dillon Francis featuring Martin Garrix (2015, dir by Dan Streit)
Hi! Lisa here with today’s music video of the day! I love this song and this video. I still know some people who are convinced that this song is called “Sell Me Weed” but no, it’s called Set Me Free and this video proves it by showing that Dillon and Martin can not only be released from prison but also from your PC. Enjoy!

jim-e stack – “deadstream”
just one of those extra-special videos that perfectly captures the essence of its accompanying tune – moreover this captures the very essence of life itself. it’s beautiful and heart-warming, and a timely antidote to all that is wrong in this world right now.
i happily stumbled across it courtesy of a charli xcx credit, and it’s a truly inspiring and smile-inducing watch. the video was exquisitely directed and edited by dillon moore and dan streit, and exclusively taken from fan-submitted vines that were soundtracked by the song and tagged #deadstream – and it’s utterly lovely as a result.
it reminds me a little of what a video equivalent of consume consume might look like – in fact, the latter’s subtitled tribute, “i love you all. every single last one of you.” seems more than apt in describing this gorgeously life-affirming cornucopia of beautiful people, interesting places, shared surprises, random daftness, rhythmic dance, chance encounters, happiness, sadness, love, hugs and smiles, fights, falls and tears. it’s the sheer beauty of humanity encapsulated inside a very special and diverse four minutes, and we should all take those four minutes to forget about ourselves and appreciate our fellow man, woman, child, animal, and the very wonders of the planet on which all of this plays out by the second – park your fears, your woes, your prejudices, your grievances, your feuds, your anger, and instead celebrate the loveliness of our fleeting interactions, and the unrivalled ability of the human spirit to conquer adversity, share diversity, create imaginatively, and embrace positivity, because ultimately that’s what it has to be all about, no? and if not, then surely the world’s just not really all that worth living, is it.
jim-e stack’s music works smartly to further evoke this sentiment. it ticks along apace to highlight how life inevitably and inexorably goes on, no matter what, and throughout, it somehow never quite resolves, keeping you on the precipice of joy and anticipation, because let’s face it, our lives remain flawed and yet ultimately optimistic for what might come next. even when everything stops at the 2:31 mark, it’s only for a couple of seconds, a mere intake of breath, before further smiles, joy, and kisses are upon us all once more to remind us how fine life can be.
so, enjoy this impeccable, head-nodding, “chaotic yet soothing” sense of watching life go by, and take time have fun in your own too. but most of all, enjoy and love one another. because we are all beautiful people. hug each other, be there for each other, support each other, look out for each other, and please, stop the hurt. life is too precious, too fragile, too special. so live it to the full.
Riton - Rinse and Repeat dir. Dan Streit & Dillon Moore
So good.
