Okay so yeah now that I'm done ranting about that I'm just going to stalk all of your posts <3
"Concerning your feelings about snaps and draconian: HE'LL FUCKING YEAH FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE FUCKING GETS IT YEAH PEOPLE CAN BE REALLY FUCKED UP BUT GOD DAMN IT BACKGROUND INFORMATION DOES NOT EXCUSE WHAT THE CHARACTER HAS DONE AT ALL
"OH BOO FUCKING HOO I WAS IN LOVE WITH YOUR MOM GET THE FUCK OVER IT AND STOP BEING A DICK HARRY DIDN'T FUCKING DO ANYTHING TO YOU "oh but he looks like James" GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELF AND HAVE SOME TEA AND GET THE STICK OUT OF YOUR ASS DAMN
"AND DRACO IS JUST A HUGE FUCKING DICKWAD TOO (like honestly I get that you had to become a death eater bc of your parents or whatever) BUT YOU WERE STILL A DICK BEFORE THAT WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE DICKS GET A PUPPY AND SETTLE THE FUCK DOWN"
YOU ARE THE GREATEST. THANK YOU. Oh my God. I've been so glad recently because I see more and more people on tumblr calling Snape out, but I still occasionally see shit about "every girl deserves a boy who loves her as much as Severus loved Lily" FUCK NO. THAT WASN'T ROMANTIC OR SWEET. IT WAS CREEPY AS FUCK AND VENGEFUL AND TERRIBLE.
He couldn't have her, so he abused her son? He loved her so much that he would have sacrificed her whole family to save her? Son, that's not love. That's selfish.
And not just to Harry! He was a prick to every student who wasn't a Slytherin. He scared poor Neville so much that he was the kid's worst fear. A thirteen year old boy whose parents had been tortured into insanity by Death Eaters, and his worst fear was his TEACHER. Snape overlooked bullying on Muggle-borns and Gryffindors and all the others, he treated them unfairly in favour of his own house and he was outright rude and disrespectful to all his students. But please, tell me again how it's all okay because he loved someone.
Snape is like the ultimate fedora-wearing nice guy, on about how oh but obviously she'd go for Potter because all the good girls like the assholes even though they'd be better off with a nice guy like me oh I called her a racist slur but I'm still better than that arrogant toe-rag oh she doesn't love me let's bully her son because he looks like her husband...
And don't even get me started on Draco. I'm tired of all the fangirls with their "oh but he's just misunderstood, he's only a Death Eater because of his parents, he wasn't going to kill Dumbledore" Well, maybe not, but a person isn't automatically a good person just because they don't want to join a group of genocidal maniacs and commit murder.
Draco was racist, elitist, weak-minded bully. He hated Harry and bullied him endlessly just because Harry didn't shake his hand after he offered to open some (elitist) doors. He hated Ron and bullied him endlessly just because Ron came from a pure-blood family who were poor and weren't racist pricks. He hated Hermione and bullied her endlessly just because Hermione wasn't born into a magical family.
After Harry and Ron saved his life (while he and his lackeys were trying to bring Harry to Voldemort), he still pleaded with the Death Eaters not to kill him because he's "on their side". No trying for redemption or even escape. Not even a simple thank you to the people who saved his life (at the risk of their own) after he tormented them for years. Just a cowardly, desperate plea. I'm a coward myself; I'm not brave at all, and I can see why he did it, but that doesn't stop me from being utterly disgusted by his complete apathy towards the people to whom he owed his life.
But please, tell me again about how he's just a poor misunderstood pure-blood boy who was raised into a family who taught him to be the way he was and how he definitely could not ever have changed it eve- hey, remember Sirius?!
"Oh, but not everyone can be like that! Not everyone is as brave as Sirius!" I know they're not. I never said they were. What I'm saying is that Draco wasn't just pushed into that life. Part of him wanted it. Sirius never wanted it, and that's why he could get out. But Draco was like Pettigrew and Regulus: he wanted in, but he wanted back out once he realised how serious it was. Unlike Regulus, he never made that effort. Two reasons why:
Part of him still wanted it.
I can forgive him for one. Like I said, I can understand not being brave. But two... That just proves that he's not simply a poor misunderstood boy who made all the wrong choices. He was racist, he was elitist and he was a bully. And even if he ultimately wasn't an evil person with evil intentions, all of that still makes him a nasty person in my book.
But it's all okay, right? Because Snape loved someone, and Draco was hot.
