We received a total of 6,666* responses to this year’s survey. Thank you to everyone who participated! Plots of all results are included below the cut, and interactive plots for all results can be viewed here. You can also click on any plot below to open an interactive version. (This will be necessary to read the full answers to some questions, which may be cut off in the plot images below.)
Requests for additional analysis of this year’s survey results (e.g., relationships between questions, direct comparisons to results from past years, filtering of the results of one question by the results of another, etc.) can be submitted here.
Results from past surveys: 2015, 2017
*We previously reported receiving over 17,000 responses to this year’s survey, but all plots are based on 6,666 responses to the survey. This discrepancy is caused by an error made by Google. Google either previously misreported the total number of responses to this year’s survey, or it has lost all but 6,666 responses. We do not believe there is a way for us to determine which of these situations is the one that actually happened.
Edit (1/29/2019): After the survey was first opened, a number of questions were edited (primarily to add additional options or to allow multiple options to be selected). These changes are now listed with their corresponding plots below.

Social Media
I was looking at the social media questions and I'd be curious to see how many people responding to the survey even had accounts on those websites, so the numbers could be compared. E.g. if 6/10 people used Twitter but only 4/6 of those followed Dan on Twitter, that could be something that's brought up. Maybe next time?

As with previous years, we are releasing the raw responses to the survey to give everyone the opportunity to do whatever analysis they would like on the data. Timestamps have been removed, and the rows representing individual responses have been shuffled to protect the anonymity of people who took the survey at the same time as a friend or group. Have fun exploring the raw data!
We are gearing up to release the Dan and Phil Survey 2018 however we have a few things that we need extra help with before we can and we are looking for your help!
What we are looking for is:
- 2-3 people to help with the stats and analyzing of the survey when all the data is in.
- Someone to design us a header and icon for 2018.
If you can help out with either of the above them please send us a message, off anon.
Even if you cannot help with the above, a RT would really help us out to spread the word as much as possible <3
