Dancan: an unnappreciated kaiju.

Dancan is fascinating as they are a kaiju, not a member of a normally civilized alien race, that has learned to and routinely use technology. While some demonic and supernatural-themed kaiju can take human form as a disguise, Dancan mostly seems just like a creature who can amorphously shapeshift into mass of foam (perhaps inspired by the “star jelly” in folklore circles), And in fact they emerge from their fake humanlike shell by breaking out of it.

Interestingly enough they are a menace not because they have some evil goal, but because want to live on Earth as outer space is getting too scary lately and they believe humanity will attack and try to destroy them unless they have leverage. So he takes an entire city hostage as a pre-emptive strike and mind controls Ultraman to be a bodyguard. It does not end well for them.

A being who could coexist if they weren’t so overly paranoid.

When Dancan reappeared in a cameo years later in Ultraman Z expanded universe stuff they would appear just a simple beast, but they also stole military equipment and were carrying it in their mouth. Eventually they are taken alive as one of the few kaiju kept in captivity but would meet an offscreen death years later when they and multiple other kaiju are used as raw materials in a project of mad science by a villain.

If they continue to make Ultra Kaiju Monster games, I think he’d be a great way to show off graphics/animation by shapeshifting back and forth into suds for stealth attacks.

Huh. Dancan looks a lot better than the last time I saw it back in Ultraseven. Most likely a remake and a remodel to the costume of Dancan perhaps? Most likely so. But still, Dancan looks a lot better this year. If they were to make extra time in Ultraman Z and show Dancan, maybe they'd show the same Dancan like this one in Sevenger Fight Episode 4.... sighs..... if only they extended more time for the unseen kaijus though. But still, let's accept that fact that Dancan looks better today. So, yay~~~
