Gyeron

[Ultraseven had several episodes that were message episodes, like “Super Weapon R-1″. A political satire about the Cold War and the escalation of weapons, Gyeron’s planet is destroyed in a thoughtless weapons test, but its attack only encourages the militarized Star Patrol to dream up newer, even worse weapons. Which is a little rich coming from a show where the solution to every problem is “let an alien angel beat it up”. But still. I like how stiff and unnatural Gyeron looks--it stands out as a mutant even by the ridiculous design standards of Ultra kaiju.]
Gyeron CR 22 CN Aberration This scaly giant has a vaguely bird-like head with a V-shaped crest, and long stiff arms held out to the sides. Each arm has a sharp blade running its length, and a clawed hand at the tip.
Gyeron is the victim of military hubris. It is named for its planet, destroyed in a weapons test by a civilization that assumed, due to the world’s incredible heat and radioactivity, that it was uninhabited. Gyeron’s strength and durability allowed it to survive the death of its world, but the process drove it mad and gave it great destructive powers. It now travels the universe on a vaguely conceived rampage of revenge, attacking planets and destroying civilizations as it goes.
Gyeron can fly from planet to planet, but within atmosphere is relatively clumsy in the air. It prefers to land or to hover in order to attack with its wing-blades, beak and the coils of plasma it can fire from its hands. If sorely pressed, Gyeron can vent a cloud of radioactive plasma. Gyeron’s most powerful ability is perhaps its regenerative properties; even if slain, Gyeron will return to life in a matter of hours. Once so rejuvenated, Gyeron will resume its rampage until it is satisfied to whatever criteria its strange mind has put in store.
Only powerful divine magic can truly kill Gyeron forever. However, in frozen environments (or the chill of the void), Gyeron cannot rejuvenate. At least once, Gyeron’s remains have been shot into space, but returned to life when they made planetfall. If Gyeron were to be torn to pieces while so incapacitated, there is the possibility it could rejuvenate into multiple individuals, and create a whole species of mutant monster.
