This is my new favorite thing.
Oh MAN I’ve reached that part in El Shaddai.
Headcanon that Lance and Keith get into at least one Michael Jackson dance-off, and everyone is simultaneously surprised and not surprised at all that Keith wins by a landslide (tho Lance holds his own quite nicely). Bonus: Keith gets really into it.
On the Dance off therapy session
The studio air was thick with the scent of floor wax and adrenaline. After the grueling, soul-crushing recording sessions for Helluva Boss Season 3—where Stella’s Digalaxis clan nearly shattered the cosmos and the Goetia dragons were forced into a magical slumber—the cast and crew desperately needed a win.
“Alright, team!” Sam Haft yelled, his thumb hovering over the play button on his phone. “In the spirit of healing, and because we all have taste levels that are questionable at best, we are going Disney.”
The familiar, aggressive synth-beat of Camp Rock 2’s "It’s On" blasted through the speakers.
“Oh, it is so on,” Jeremy Jordan smirked, adjusting his literal and metaphorical Broadway crown. Beside him, Christian Borle was already stretching his calves, looking like a man possessed by the spirit of a thousand jazz hands.
“Team Broadway, fall in!” Jeremy commanded. A line of theater royalty—the voices of Hell’s most iconic denizens—formed a disciplined, high-energy perimeter. With Skye Mattox and Ashley Spencer leading the charge, the Broadway squad erupted into a synchronized, gravity-defying jumping dance line. It was technical, it was loud, and it was flawlessly on-beat.
On the other side of the room, Alexander Balzano—the "Warumono" himself—exchanged a look with his Cirque du Soleil crew. Alex, the aerialist muse who had inspired the movements of both Stolas and Angel Dust, didn't bother with a traditional stance.
“You call those jumps?” Alex teased, his voice carrying that effortless burlesque charm. “Watch the floor.”
As the chorus hit, the Cirque team transitioned into "Circus Ninja" mode. While the Broadway stars dominated the air, the Cirque folks claimed the earth. Alex dropped into a series of fluid, terrifyingly fast floor acrobatics, his "distressingly long, sexy legs" (as Brandon called them) whipping through the air in rhythmic flares that defied physics. It wasn't just dancing; it was superhuman contortion.
The "Camera Ninjas," including Manuel Marichal, were doubled over, their lenses shaking as they tried to capture the chaos. The background noise of the studio was a symphony of laughter and "How is he doing that with his spine?!"
In the corner, the veterans sat like gods on Olympus. Keith David leaned back, a regal smile on his face, while Jonathan Freeman (Paimon) and Sarah Brightman (Amethyst) watched their "on-screen children" with sophisticated delight.
“Look at them,” Lea Salonga (Belphegor) remarked, nudging Judy Kuhn (Desdemona). “They’re finally exorcising Season 3.”
“It’s better than talk therapy,” Judy laughed, watching Jeremy Jordan try to match a Cirque performer’s backflip. “Though I think the Schiaparellis would find the choreography a bit... avant-garde.”
Brandon Rogers stood in the center of the madness, filming a selfie-video. “This is Season 4, guys!” he shouted over the music. “Healing, circus therapists, and watching the most talented people in the world act like toddlers at a summer camp! We’re laughing with tears of joy, and honestly? Stolas and Blitz deserve this vibe.”
As the song peaked, the two teams collided in a messy, joyous mosh pit of jazz squares and tuck-jumps. The Goetia secrets and the trauma of the "Black Hole Jail" felt a million miles away. For the first time in years, the only thing being broken in Hell was a sweat.
Fans on the Dance off
"Season of Healing" had sparked a wildfire of speculation. Fans were no longer just theorizing about the lore of Stolas’s five brothers or the Schiaparelli-Borgia feuds of the 15th century—they were obsessed with the "Broadway vs. Cirque" Dance-Off Therapy Session.
On Twitter, "Camera Ninja Ness" had just posted the grainy, chaotic footage of the event, and the quote retweets were moving faster than Alex Balzano’s "distressingly long legs."
@GoetiaGossip: "I am LOSING it at the mental image of Jeremy Jordan and Christian Borle leading a frantic jumping dance line to 'It’s On' from Camp Rock while Keith David just watches them like a disappointed but amused father. This is the only therapy I need. #Hellaverse #Season4"
@SchiaparelliGoth: "Can we talk about the power move of the veterans? Seeing Lea Salonga (Belphegor) and Sarah Brightman (Amethyst) just sitting there with Judy Kuhn (Desdemona) while the ‘youngsters’ have a dance-off is exactly the energy of the Goetia court post-abdication. The class! The poise! The judgment!"
@CircusNinjaStan: "The way Brandon described Alexander Balzano (the real Warumono!) leading the Cirque crew into floor acrobatics? Absolute cinema. Imagine being a 'camera ninja' trying to film a man who is basically a superhuman aerialist kicking his legs around to Disney Channel songs. Stolas and Angel Dust’s muses are literally saving the production."
@Tarantella_CEO: "Everyone is talking about the dancing, but I’m still stuck on the fact that Arackniss was a ‘Goth Preppy’ at Princeton. Please, I need a flashback episode of Sal beatdown-debating his rivals before coming home to the Carnegie Hill mansion. If he doesn’t wear Armani in Season 4, I’m suing."
@LuluWorldEnthusiast: "The transition from the court jesters becoming ninjas in S3 to 'Circus Therapists' in S4 is the character arc of the century. Brandon saying they were all laughing with tears of joy during the S4 recordings makes me so happy after the trauma of Stella nearly breaking the cosmos."
@Hell_Bound_Blogger: "My favorite headcanon from the dance-off: Paimon (Jonathan Freeman) definitely tried to do the Jafar laugh when the Cirque team did a backflip, and Ashley Spencer (Jeremy’s wife) probably out-danced everyone without even breaking a sweat. Team Broadway has the vocals, but Team Cirque has the gravity-defying moves. It’s a draw!"
@VivziePopFanatic: "The fact that they used 'Camp Rock' as their therapy music is so camp. It fits the Hellaverse perfectly. Seeing the cast recover from the emotional breakdown of the Digalaxis feud by watching Mickey Mouse shorts and having dance-offs makes the Stolitz wedding at the end of S4 feel so much more earned. We survived the angst, y’all!"
As the thread trended, a final comment from @Ness_The_Ninja appeared: "You guys haven't even seen the footage of Josh Groban ( Ipos's VA )trying to recreate the 'Renaissance Popcorn' scene yet. Stay tuned. The healing has just begun."
Thread: BRANDON CALLED ALEX’S LEGS WHAT?!
User: GoetiaSimp2026
"Can we talk about the literal poetry of Brandon Rogers describing Alex Balzano’s legs as ‘distressingly long and sexy’ during the Broadway vs. Cirque dance-off? I am deceased. The mental image of Jeremy Jordan and Christian Borle doing a synchronized jump-line while Alex just… occupies the entire floor with limbs? 10/10."
User: CirqueDeLulu_Fan
"It’s the ‘distressingly’ for me. Like, they are so long it’s causing Brandon psychological turmoil. Imagine being the camera ninjas (shoutout to Ness!) trying to film that dance-off without tripping over a stray Balzano leg. No wonder the veterans like Lea Salonga and Sarah Brightman were just watching with ‘calm amusement.’ They know they’re witnessing a glitch in the matrix."
User: StolasPropagandist
"Okay, but look at the lore context! Brandon said Alex is the muse for Stolas and Angel Dust. If Stolas’s long-legged elegance comes from Alex, then ‘distressingly sexy’ is now canon for the entire Goetia bloodline. I bet when Stolas gets abdicated in Season 4, he just uses those legs to walk away from his problems in slow motion."
User: BroadwayBaby_99
"I need the video Ness posted immediately. I want to see Sam Haft blasting ‘It’s On’ from Camp Rock while the professional acrobats show the Broadway stars what ‘gravity-defying’ actually means. Also, can we appreciate the irony? The cast had emotional breakdowns recording the Digalaxis vs. Goetia feud, and their therapy is just… watching an Italian-Japanese burlesque legend kick his legs at the ceiling?"
User: SchiaparelliGoth
"The quote is: 'Alex led the other cirque folks to floor acrobatics with Alex kicking his distressingly long, sexy legs around.'
I’m calling it now—this is why the Circus Ninjas are the saving graces of Season 4. You can't be sad about Stella nearly breaking the cosmos when you have that level of distraction. It’s the ultimate ‘Healing Era’ energy."
User: BlitzøsManager
"My favorite headcanon: Brandon was trying to record a serious V-log about the Schiaparelli fashion empire or the Tarantella family’s move to Sicily, but he kept getting distracted by Alex practicing his aerialist routine in the background.
Brandon: 'So anyway, Arackniss was a goth preppy at Princeton—'
Alex: [Does a triple backflip]
Brandon: '—and his legs are… honestly, it’s distressing. I’ve forgotten my script.'"
User: HellaverseHistorian
"The fact that the camera ninjas were laughing so hard they were shaking is the most relatable thing ever. Imagine Judy Kuhn (Desdemona) and Jonathan Freeman (Paimon) sitting there in full ‘Royal Parent’ mode while the younger cast has a Camp Rock dance-off. The Hellaverse BTS is officially more chaotic than the show itself. Someone get Alex a leg insurance policy, please."
User: StuffNSam_Lifer
"I’m just glad Season 4 is a 'breeze.' After the angst of Stolas losing the grimoire and the whole Stella/Andrealphus execution drama, we deserve 'distressingly sexy' legs and circus therapy. Brandon and Alex are the power couple Hell needed."
The Aftermath: The "Distressingly Sexy" Meme
By the following week, "Distressingly Sexy" began trending on X (formerly Twitter). Fans started a "Leg-Off" challenge, comparing the character designs of Stolas and Angel Dust to Alex’s Cirque du Soleil silhouettes.
The fandom consensus was clear: while Season 3 nearly "broke the cosmos" with the Stella vs. Goetia war, the real healing of Season 4 started with the realization that the voices behind the characters were just as obsessed with the "Circus Ninjas" as the fans were. As one top-rated comment put it: "We survived the angst of the black hole jail and the Goetia abdication just to be taken out by Alexander Balzano’s hamstrings. Truly, the Hellaverse is a gift."
ooooooooo would any of your OCs do well in a forced to dance scenario?
HA!
I'm projecting my own discomfort with dancing onto all my ocs at the moment and experiencing secondhand embarrassment through them!
Ok ok I'll try to answer! lol
CoA:
Quinn is a great dancer! He would thrive in this scenario but he would make it so very slutty lol (I mean this in the most positive way imaginable! 😍)
Collins- no. Hard no. He would fall on his sword before dragging his ass out onto the dance floor! ...well, unless Quinn begged him to. Then, yes, okay yes, he would dance. But by "dance" I mean bop around awkwardly and sway without ever moving his feet 😂
(Quinn is going to have to teach him how to at least slow dance! Ok yeah that's happening lol)
Also, why do I feel like Hawkins can waltz?
Palette:
Jesse would dance!!!! He'd either sway around the room happily or completely loose himself to the beat but that boy would dance his little heart out!
And Mark is actually a damn good dancer. He's very intense about it and incredibly sexy.
Defiance:
Nope. Nope. Nope.
Levi left the building. He's not dancing. Fuck right off. Everyone dies.
Cameron would be running after him and desperately trying to drag him onto the dancefloor! He LOVES to dance! And he definitely thinks he's an excellent dancer but boy is he an adorable fool! All long legs and comically big dance moves that he can't actually control 🕺
I don't know if I actually answered this ask correctly but it made me laugh!!
Dance Off! via /r/DoctorWhumour https://ift.tt/2nO1IKl

Tagging @motheatenscarf @hfbeasty @glorfinniell @alyssnighthawk and anyone else I missed.
To save the planet, which of your OCs would instigate a dance off?
I would think Banny would be mine.
