Is anyone else still in awe of Catherine Clayton from The Dance Awards this year

Idk what cave I've been living under but I hadn't even heard her name until TDA but every time I re-watch the dance off for Senior Best Dancer I'm more and more amazed at how good she is.

Initially I thought Sophie had it in the bag and was guaranteed to win (and obviously did win in the end), with Catherine right behind her as 1st RU, but now I honestly think it would have been a close call between the two of them as to who won.

I can't tell whether the right question is 'Where has she been all of these years?!' or 'Where on earth have I been all these years never having seen her dance' ?!? She is literally so good

First DANCEONE competition&convention of the season is only one week away.

Dance one isn’t destroying btf. Btf destroyed itself for having no oversight of their teachers who then engaged in illicit activity, which Gil ignored. Now everyone wants Gil to start a new convention, but you can pretty much guarantee it’s going to be staffed by Travis and others (Misha, Nick???) who were let go from btf. So to suddenly support this new convention and blame dance one is not seeing the reality of why this all happened. Gil and the former staff are the real reason for the downfall.

I have been lurking for years… but I think I have found my voice.

I Just returned home of nationals and enough things rubbed me wrong that I needed to join the conversation.

Here are a few to start-

1-My ears are still bleeding from the gala. I love loud music but… damn

2-The camera angles on the stream are obnoxious and often create in appropriate and embarrassing image for the dancers. Like worse than the cookie guy everyone complains about. They also ruin choreography that is all planned out for a front audience. Team numbers are completely ruined as you can’t see half of the dancers.

3-How do we get transparency in the judging panels?

The dancesport model could help.

Or

it’s a live show let’s see there score immediately Olympic style or even dancing with the stars style.

4- props.

Prop set up time should be less than the total dance time if it’s not no score.

If the gimmick of the prop impedes the ability to critique the dancer, no score

Let’s demand improvement!

Hey everybody, I am a former comp kid that grew up dancing in the SDA/ BTF circuit, going to a SDA nationals every year. Even though i'm no longer dancing, i'm addicted to watching comp every week lol. I would love to talk comp dance tea with you all!
