Dear past me

Dear past me, 

I’m sorry. 

I’m sorry you had you childhood stripped from you. I’m sorry you lived in fear and insecurity. I’m sorry you lost trust in yourself and the people around you. 

I’m sorry you had to hide. I’m sorry you had to lie. There were days that felt less whole because of the things you had to keep in the dark. 

I’m sorry you don’t remember. I’m sorry the memories that felt significant are the ones that constantly slip away. That life feels less complete. That you feel so confused and alone.

I’m sorry that no one wanted to hear. There were people you entrusted yourself to whom you had to deny. I’m sorry that you know too much. 

I wish you could forget. I wish those days were renewed. I wish you felt it wasn’t your fault. I wish it had been better. 

There are days when you’ll want to be omitted and reborn. 

But it gets better. 

Days go by faster and the light hurts your eyes a little bit, but you’re still happy it’s there.  

It doesn’t go away immediately, but you will learn to put your foot down. To fight, to claw, to bite. To battle. To conquer. To win. Hopefully someday. 

Don’t ever lose yourself in the things you choose to believe or not believe in. 

You are not alone.
