i feel your no-no list so hard, but esp "and that goes double for AUs where Victor is super famous but Yuuri is a normal dude". CANNOT. (and i do the same where i just look in bookmarks hah)

It just feels like it misses something integral to their dynamic- like yeah Victor is a megastar and Yuuri looked up to him, but Yuuri is also completely capable of beating him, and is himself wildly popular and beloved in a way he sucks at recognising. Yuuri is not a trustworthy source when it comes to himself!

to go along with this we made kacang panjang dan tempeh tumis sambal terasi (snake beans with tempeh stir fried in spicy chili prawn paste) and I added prawns as this usually is just tempeh and snake beans. @danedear and I messaged about cooking tempeh as I saw on her twitter feed that she had just bought her first batch back in May lol (sorry this took so long to post !). apparently tempeh has been appropriated by privileged / western vegans as some sort of healthy meat alternative. white vegans are posting oven-baked tempeh or marinated bbq tempeh or roasted tempeh recipes on their food blogs. i’m all for taking creative license but this is some pure white nonsense. it’s nice to see tempeh more readily accessible and available but my heart breaks (and i want to gag) when i see what is being done with it. esp. these vegans who are claiming it as their health food discovery / latest vegan diet fad and don’t put in the effort to educate themselves on the rich history of tempeh and its origins in indonesia and the many, many (actually flavourful) dishes that have existed for centuries. it’s so weird tt once again white vegans have stripped a food of its history and touted it as an overpriced hippie meat alternative when my mum, growing up in abject poverty in her kampong, had to eat plain tempeh with white rice bc tt’s all they could afford. ppl ate tempeh bc they couldn’t afford meat, not bc they opted not to. tempeh naturally occurred as a by product of tofu production. the leftover soybean residue meant to be thrown out merged with spores and edible fungi started to grow on it binding the individual soybeans into a cake.

i grew up eating tempeh fried. there’s no such thing as baking it. this is how you get a dry, tasteless brick that white vegans are trying to convince the world is delicious. after frying it, we would incorporate it into different dishes. one of the most popular snacks at the school canteen was kering tempeh dan kacang. i don’t rmbr the exact name but essentially it’s these fried mini cubes of tempeh with dried roasted peanuts with the skins still on them with a sweet, sticky, spicy glaze from kecap manis (indonesian sweet soy sauce). or at home our maids would fry up match sticks or cubes of tempeh with ikan bilis (anchovies) and peanuts like this. we would scoop them out into rolled up paper cones -- they sold for like USD$0.07. we would have mendoan tempeh that was dipped into batter and deep fried. we would have keropok tempeh (a tempeh version of potato chips). or we would have tempeh slices with gado gado dipped in kacang kuah (peanut sauce). onto the frying. here’s a block of tempeh. the black spots are not spoilage (it explains on the packaging) -- they’re from sporulation. i cut them into thin strips and then slice those stripes again then cube them. i mixed them with cumin, tumeric and chili powder (you can use cayenne or chipotle, ancho, any kind of blend) and kecap manis (indonesian sweet soy sauce is a lot thicker and more viscose -- like you’re pouring maple syrup). the kecap manis will keep the tempeh moist on the inside and crispy on the outside (sugar caramelises) and give it the golden brown colour. i’m not sure if you could substitute it with another kind of soy sauce (esp. if it’s a thinner one). i don’t have a deep fryer so i shallow fried them in a pan. if you deep fry them you can get them really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. after frying them until they’re firm (but not too crisp until they’re like burnt pebbles), you drain the excess oil off on a paper towel. it’s all yellow from the tumeric.

you can go ahead and snack on them like this or use them in a recipe of your choosing.

Oh yeah! My question was totally literal! :) I do know about the add a page thing, I’m more wondering if anyone knows how people make those nice character pages with pictures and stuff? *cause I like to show off my pretty toons :3*

I mentioned a few days ago that I injured my arm....

there was a report about why boy shirts can be pulled off like that & girl shirts cant. google it! also my mom seriously injured her rotator cuff & has surgery in 2 days :( i’m sorry for the both of you!!!!

Thank you for your well wishes! And please pass mine to your mom! I hope it goes perfectly for her, and that she recovers quickly. Family members of mine have had the same surgery and I know it can be very painful and frustrating.

I remember this story going around Tumblr about boy shirts vs girl shirts. I tend to wear my shirts loose, but they are women’s cut so maybe that’s why it feels so awkward yet is possible to do. ;D
