Dangerous Connection | | Harvey and Alexia
Roaming through the house, Alexia wasn't afraid of being caught. There were enough rooms in this place that she could hide an entire family for weeks before she found them again. Her black heels echoed in the empty hall. She over her shoulder. No one. Smiling slightly, she went into the nearest door on her left, locking it behind her. She'd brought her book bag to the ball, just in case she needed to do magic.
Since Halloween, she should have been terrified. A book had almost taken over her consciousness. She'd dropped the veil between the living and dead, according to her aunt. Magic should be the last thing on her to do list... But it wasn't. It was the first.
She could feel the power growing within her being. She'd completed a huge spell on Halloween. Sure the outcome wasn't the best, but that didn't take away the fact that it happened. Minor spells no longer drained her energy. Longer spells still exhausted her but she was working on that. Practice made perfect after all.
Tonight though, she wouldn't do any spells yet. Sitting on the floor, Alexia took ingredients out of a bag, miscellaneous herbs and powders. Mixing them in a small bowl, she muttered a few Latin words. The herbs and powders turned to a dark blue liquid. Next, she took a small vial out of her bag. It was filled with a milky looking substance that was anything but. Slowly, carefully, she poured exactly three drops into the bowl, resulting in a plume of smoke.
"Perfect..." She whispered. She'd never done this potion before, but it was in her aunt's journal so it must work. Although, it didn't look like her aunt had used the recipe; she'd just added it for the sake of knowledge. The journal was the only place that Alexia got her spells these days. Magic didn't scare her, but the black book did. She knew she wasn't nearly strong enough to use it. One day...
Taking a chained vial from around her neck, Alexia poured her potion into it. The clear blue liquid gave off no odor as she put a stopper into the vial before tucking it safely beneath her dress.
Maybe normally she couldn't talk to boys, but with this potion, she wouldn't need to. For one night, any guy who drank this would fall for her. She just needed to find the right one. Cleaning her ingredients and tossing the bowl in the trash, Alexia strolled back down the stairs. With a smile on her face, she scanned the crowd, looking for her target.
