Amazing news!

As some of you may know, it’s been really tough keeping up with this blog while I’m working a 9-5 job. 

So I found a new job.

At a vet’s office. 

I am so beyond happy to be working with animals again, in an environment that will encourage me to further my education with animals. This is like a dream come true for me. So not only will my hours be more flexible, but I’ll also be dealing with things on a much more personal level, and LEARNING MORE!

Hey! A story should be posted today, I’ve been trying to get my laptop to not die on me. Lmao.

I have a bunch of stories pre written, but for some reason I’ve been having some tech problems! I’m hoping to get a new laptop soon, especially before this one dies on me! Haha.

HEY sorry this isn’t more question answering, but I just kinda wanted to put it out here. It’s under a cut for discussions of reproductive health for a cis woman. If that upsets you, please let me know how to better tag this other than “reproductive health” and putting it under a cut and I’ll do it ASAP for y’all. I’m also tagging this as “childfree” so if similar tags upset you please use caution <3 (There’s also mentions to legal marijuana, but I’m hesitant to tag that because of the attention that might get). Anyone trying to discuss my choices will be immediately blocked <3

I have a doctor’s appointment tonight. My husband and I are childfree, and I’ve been trying for 10 years to get permanent birth control. Seriously. I asked my first OBGYN and I ask every year. This year I FINALLY was allowed to get an IUD, but before I could schedule it...my hormonal birth control stopped working. There are currently theories about marijuana affecting the effectiveness of hormonal birth control, but because there are limited studies on it, it’s only a theory. Either way, my hormonal birth control has NOT been doing the job it used to, so I’m definitely noticing a difference. My husband even got a vasectomy because it took a fifteen minute doctor’s appointment for him to say “Yeah I don’t want kids”, and the doctor signed him up immediately. But those can reverse themselves. Unlikely, but possible (he had a successful one, typically reversal happens early on after the procedure). I’m literally just trying to do everything in my power to protect us.

So tonight I have a doctor’s appointment to try and get a tubal ligation. I’m so scared. My husband’s away on business and I’m going by myself. My parents (who support me not having kids) don’t even know. I’m just scared the doctor will say no. Again. He’s listed on a childfree list of doctors in the US, and he’s covered by my insurance. But it’s still just...anxiety inducing.

The procedure’s totally covered by insurance, and I can get the time off work. It’s just a matter of finding a doctor that will agree to do it. And it’s stressful. I haven’t changed my mind in 15 years of not wanting kids. Being closer to 30 helps, but not by much. Fingers crossed for me.

Been a while!

So aside from Heimdall’s really upsetting update, I haven’t really touched base with y’all. 

I’m gonna be honest, I’m really having a hard time keeping my head above water, and I’m ever the person to pretend everything is okay. I started this blog when I was JUST in school and not working, so I had all the time in the world.

This Monday I’m going in for relatively routine (and scheduled) surgery, and I’m off work for the week because of it. Well...”off work” meaning “recovering”. I’m going to try and take the time to get caught up on some questions, read some cat-related behavior books to stay fresh, and possibly plan a trip to the cat convention near me in April, depending on how my mental health and wallet are doing. But largely depending on how I feel post-op.

But, I’m hopeful. While I think my job is great, I’m trying to get back into working with animals actively. So fingers crossed that the current lead that I have pans out, because I may be going back to school soon in addition to leaving my current job for another one, but this one is working with animals directly.
