SwanQueen idea- Emma finds a way to restore Regina's ring from Daniel as a birthday gift - Potentially after the Underworld when she saw how disappointed she was to not get to see him again?
If Daniel didn’t die and was in Storybrooke he’d totally be a brony. He’d call Regina, Applejack. Regina regrets taking him to Storybrooke; much to Dan’s dismay, Regina is not a pegasister.
That time I interviewed JULIA CHILD
Don’t be a big fattie...
Straight people we love: JULIA CHILD serves up culinary advice for urban gays
BY DANIEL KUSNER
For a starter course, Julia Child begins this “Straight People We Love” interview by declaring that she’s not at all interested in people’s sex lives.
Nonetheless, she was once hit with a $3 million lawsuit by Daniel Coulter, a San Francisco man who alleged that Child thwarted his appointment as director for the American Institute of Wine and Food because he was gay.
“The lawsuit was settled out of court because it would have cost us so much more to bring the case to trial,” Child explains. “That fellow got something like 30 to 40 thousand dollars, so it was probably worth his while. I have nothing against gay people. I work with them all the time. It doesn’t make any difference to me what you are.”
It’s weirdos who aren’t interested in food that draw Child’s barbs.
“I don’t even consider them people,” she says in her distinctive warble.
Since so many gay men are slaves to their diet, Child has one simple rule.
“Moderation! If you eat too much or too fast, you’ll be a fat fellow. So don’t be a big fattie. It’s not healthy, and it’s not attractive. Just use some discipline,” she commands. “The downfall of American cuisine is overeating and not paying attention to what you’re eating.”
She also insists that people should eat only three reasonable meals a day — no seconds and no snacks.
“The more you snack, the fatter you get. If you want to lose weight, just eat smaller helpings,” she advises.
Has Child ever sunk her teeth into a Power Bar or sipped a protein shake?
“Yuck. I wouldn’t eat anything like that at all. I like regular food — good food. Why eat something that wouldn’t be any good?” she asks.
The culinary master confesses that her favorite ingredient is butter. She’s also been known to order fast food at the drive-thru window.
“Sure, I’ll order a hamburger and a Coke at McDonald’s. Why not?”
According to Child — who didn’t start cooking until she moved to France with her diplomat husband — one of the best ways to hold onto a man is to satisfy his stomach.
And she says learning to cook is terrific fun.
“There are lots of nice classes around. The classes are great. After work you can go out and take a class with a friend and then cook dinner and eat in. That’s how you should do it,” she says. “You’ll know when you’ve learned how to cook when you can enjoy eating it. There’s nothing difficult about cooking.”
What’s an easy starter dish when trying to impress a new date?
“A nice a beef stew and mashed potatoes with red wine. That’s always a good idea. Of course, chicken dishes are always very good, too,” she suggests.
And when it comes to equipment, Child says a decent cook can get by with only a stove, a sink, a stock pot, a frying pan and a knife. “And if you buy good equipment and use it correctly, you should never have to throw it away.”

News From The Over
News from the world of the living was hard to come by, but when it did come it was often the most joyous news one could hear. But not for Daniel. He had been down there for some time and slowly in the years following his own passing came what seemed like an endless flurry of the newly dead.
He thought at first it was another plague, God help the kingdom.
But through word of the mouth he began hearing the title ‘Evil Queen’. The title was on everyone’s tongue, being tossed around, and this cruel woman was regularly being discussed.
In his mind there was a vivid image of Cora Mills, her wicked smile burning into his mind. That awful false kind expression on her aging face, as she yanked his heart from his chest and sent him to this dismal Underworld.
He listened in more frequently and more intensely and his suspicions were confirmed. Most everyone of the newly dead were killed by a physical crushing of their heart. “Uniquely and horrifyingly breathtaking.” An elderly gentleman described it as. He noted that he would have rather had a natural heart attack than what he got. Those who didn’t have the luxury of getting their hearts ripped out, were faced with the Queen’s guard.
“So she’s finally done it then?” Dan asked one day. “Cora managed to steal the throne?”
The woman he had asked—a girl who’d come from a recently massacred town—looked puzzled. “Who is Cora?”
“The Evil Queen.” He answered with his own befuddled expression.
“Her name is Regina.”
Dan couldn’t quite remember the excuse he made for having to leave in haste—it was probably ridiculous, what rush could the dead possibly have—but he couldn’t seem to get a grip on what he had just heard.
It couldn’t be his Regina. His Regina was gentle and innocent.
There were plenty of people named Regina out there.
It wasn’t her.
It wasn’t Regina Mills.
The dead kept coming in and fill him with little details of her clothing and her hair style. Of her facial expressions. Her harsh brown eyes and that twisted sneer. The resemblance to his lover was not lost on him. It was however completely denied.
One day there was mention of a peculiar detail—of a scar on her lip. He shed some tears that night, the truth was becoming more and more apparent. He couldn’t fathom how his loving and kind Regina could do so many vile things.
He got his answer on the same day that Regina’s deeds became completely undeniable. As he made his way down the hot cobblestone streets of the underworld he came across a lonely man stumbling towards him. In his years in the Underworld, Dan had seen an assortment of confused and bewildered faces. Everyone was surprised to die, especially the young ones. But this man, was absolutely taken over by shock. It was all over his familiar face.
Daniel became angry. How could the woman he once loved, do something so dark as to kill her own father? Another man who had such a gentle soul. The one who loved her so dearly. And now he was dead.
Dan was beside himself with rage. How could she have done that. Any of that? Henry Mills looked up and with sorrow in his eyes he said, “she misses you Daniel. She still loves you. And it destroys her.”
Now all that’s left in his mouth is a taste of sorrow.
Deep down he’d known it was true all along, why else would he still be stuck here?
He repeats it in his mind, “She still loves you. And it destroys her.”
Close To Him
A fic for my Stable Queen feels.
With summer sun seeping into her skin Regina lie down in the grass listening to the slow, lazy, southern drawl of the radio announcer. “It’s gonna be a fine week, sunshine all mornin’ and a nice 70 degrees all through the night. Nothin’ but good weather.” Promised he, before listing off the songs next to play on after the radio ads.
Regina sat up for a moment to pour herself a cup of cool lemonade before returning to her laying position with her left arm tucked behind her head. Her other arm shield her eyes from the afternoon sun. Like that she remained, watching the clouds drift past.
And finally began one of the songs the announcer had promised a minute or two ago. This one spoke of a summer night on a farm somewhere down south. Regina smiled to herself, it was one of her favorites. But she had so many favorite country songs.
Country music was her favorite.
It reminded her of those easier days when Daniel was still alive.
Of course the she never had a radio so the songs themselves sparked no memory, but the lyrics. Those reminded her very much of her first love and the nights they would spend together. Some part of her had a feeling that he would have enjoyed the genre. That if they had been born to another land, that her teen years would have been filled with songs about tractors, horses, haybales, and pickup trucks.
Regina smiled to herself at the notion. Hell, Dan probably would have owned a pickup truck. They, to her mother’s dismay and disappointment, would have probably torn up many dirt roads kicking up dust as he sped past. Singing along to the songs she was hearing now.
More than anything Regina wanted that. She wanted this world she had just imagined. She longed to remember events that never occurred.
And she longed to create a new future. To feel Daniel’s hand wrap around her wrist once again. To show him the workings of this land…her land. Storybrooke. To show him what a radio is and figure out what his favorite songs were.
Perhaps in this scenario they wouldn’t be tearing up back roads—those days were long behind her—but they could still take a ride in her Benz, playing Luke Bryan and Keith Urban until they had nowhere left to drive.
With the back of her hand, Regina wiped a tear from her cheek.
For a good while she just listened to the southern drawl rhythmically sliding from her stereo, interrupted only occasionally—when the wind blew—with a slight fuzzy static.
For just a moment she could practically feel him lying next to her humming along, only stopping to point out a peculiar looking cloud. Just like he used to.
Regina couldn’t quite place how long she’d been lying out there. Too long, that’s for sure. But she couldn’t bring herself to care. With all of the constant threats facing Storybrooke, it had grown hard for Regina to cling to her memories of her first love. But somehow country music became one of the only things that made her feel close to him.
