Harlots | 1x03
I looked down into the waters and saw fish so bright they hurt my eyes. Little jewels. Some smaller than minnows, some bigger than pigs. It was another world down there. Green and blue Eden. This life is full of wonder, Charlotte Wells.
Harlots Fic Appreciation Week: Share a fic that deserves more attention
This is one of those fics I didn’t know I was looking for until I found it. I’ve been thinking about Charlotte’s arc(s) a lot recently, and this takes her on a diversion at the end of s1 that is bittersweet but hopeful at the same time.

harlots 3x04 predictions:
Charlotte: What’s wrong?
Daniel: I had a bad day and I need your oral support.
Charlotte: …you mean ‘moral’?
Daniel: I think you and I both know that’s not what I meant.
This life is full of wonder, Charlotte Wells.
So... Harlots: Margret lands in Virginia and runs smack into Mr. Marney right? And he’s stolen a fair bit of cash... so they go into business together running a tavern trying to save up enough to get everyone else to come to them - until the Revolutionary War comes along. At which point they make bank as Pirates. Yes? That’s what happens in my head anyway. In all seriousness: That was a strangely satisfying season finale. Strange because it’s not at all how I was expecting things to go. Satisfying because with Lydia in Bedlam, Fallon gone, and Charlotte running her own house everyone (almost) gets a little bit of what they want. (Except possibly Lady Fitzwilliam’s daughter. Her mom’s a walking scandal, her dad’s her uncle, and she seems really boring so far...)
I also sincerely hope Emily comes to Greek St. She’s thoroughly unpleasant and lazy to boot per her girls - but when push comes to shove she does the right thing for all her pettiness and all her fear. Maybe Charles will come back for her? He’ll for sure be happier with Cherie because they seem better matched but who knows. Side note: Can we discuss how Lydia Quigley - of all the fucking people - somehow managed to raise a kid with a half decent moral compass? Because two seasons in a row Charles has been the surprise of surprises for me.
