Dorothea is simply one of the most iconic bitches in modern horror and I will not hear anything to the contrary. Nopes out when she needs to, whacks evil with a stick when she can. Adore her, adore that for her. Spoilers for the finale of Arc 4 underneath! She's never described with glasses but I kept picturing her with glasses. I'm just gonna say they're reading glasses, she just doesn't take them off as often as she probably should because she's constantly diving back into her books.
Process stuff:
I spent a lot of time with this one trying to figure out if she would use her cane while dancing? I'm gonna need to look into it more because I think it depends on what the cane is actually for (like, is it more for balance and stability or more for weight distribution and support) and what someone with achondroplasia would most likely need. For now until I get more research done I'm operating under the impression that it's mostly for helping with walking longer distances (it's also described in the narration as a "walking stick" and has a lion head handle which doesn't sound particularly ergonomic?), so I think she could set it by the piano for the dance without much trouble. Aaaaand That is the average amount of overthinking that goes into a cute sketch on the side of the primary subject! Send help.
In all seriousness though, I do love looking into this sort of thing. I think including these details that most audiences wouldn't notice is what makes the difference between a character that feels like a character Vs a character that feels like a person.
The last sketch on the right is her during the big finale fight, when she deflects Busch's attack on Daniel. We mostly focus on Daniel for that bit, which makes sense, but for some reason I can picture Dorothea's face at that moment so clearly. The horror of watching that malicious magic head towards him, the sudden realization that she actually does have the power to help, a grin of satisfaction when her deflect succeeds with a telltale shattering sound to confirm it. Solid proof that she is not powerless here. It's such a kickass moment that only lasts for a second but it really stuck in my mind as a HUGE thing for her.
In other news I am so FUCKING excited to see what he Dandies Team is cooking up next, I would happily wait a thousand years if it meant eventually more Danger for the Dandies
Today Dandies in Danger celebrates its 5 year anniversary! What started as a game between friends has flourished into the podcast it is today because we decided to take a risk and record our adventures to share with the world.
Playing in a fantasy space together is so genuinely fun. We've enjoyed watching each other grow over the years, both as artists and as individuals. It’s an honor to be able to pass off each arc to the next storyteller and trust that they can capably lead us on a thrilling adventure and continue to add to the rich world of Dandies.
We are very lucky to have found a group of unique individuals whose talents meld together so well. This podcast takes a lot of hard work, and each of us throws our entire self into making sure Dandies is the best it possibly can be. It's a pleasure to have such reliable and understanding friends.
Thank you, dear listeners, for accompanying us on this journey. We hope you will continue to do so till the end. Your support seriously means the world to us!
Hello! It's been a hot minute since I posted 😳 Thanks for sticking around!
(Clockwise from the top) Zachery, Daniel, Adrian, & Liam are the blundering protagonists of the roleplay podcast Dandies in Danger. If you enjoy queer, Regency shenanigans, you can find us on:

😎 We're partway through Arc 2!
This is the linework for the full-color piece that I posted over on the @dandiesindanger account. If you haven't seen it already, I included many more close-ups in that version. ^^
One thing that I didn't share in the finished version is the AMAZING REFERENCE PHOTO/INSPIRATION. Some of you classic horror fans might recognize Peter Lorre, Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, and Basil Rathbone. Their dynamic in this photo was too good to pass up! (°♡∀♡)
A while ago I wrote out a transcript of the first 2 scenes of Dandies in Danger for personal reference reasons and I wanted to throw out some highlights because I had too much fun trying to communicate the humour through text.
So that's your semi-regular dose of Dandies in Danger propaganda from me!
Brace yourselves for tomorrow's episode. Things are getting tense!
We're offering a whole passel of Patreon rewards at the $1 and $5 levels. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us thus far. Exclusive art be upon ye!
In this daring Regency game, nuts and raisins would be soaked in brandy and set alight. Players would test their courage by snatching a still-burning treat from the bright blue flames and popping it in their mouth.
It sounds a lot more dangerous than it is. The secret is in the blue flame-- brandy, being approximately 50% alcohol-- does not burn as hot. A regular, yellow flame would create twice the heat! Plus, the nuts and raisins cool quickly.
Liam & Daniel have played this before with their families. Adrian & Zach, however, are a little dubious.
