As a reaction to the weight bullying by the mass media about her weight, Lady Gaga donned a statement piece when leaving the Park Hyatt hotel in Paris on September 22, 2012.
Gaga was photographed rocking the supersized two-dimensional two-tone felt and oilskin fusion Illusion dress in pink and blue from the very graphic Comme des Garçons’ Fall/Winter 2012 collection - an explosion of outsized graphic precision and vibrant color.
Structured fabrics in clear, dense hues set the tone, but Kawakubo also offered megapatterns, both dots and flowers. One of the best: the blanket checkerboard strewn with roses.
She crowned the look with bespoke Daniel Stephen Nightshades sunglasses. Dan is a huge Gaga fan and one of La Maison Gaga’s first readers! And here’s his story:
“What he wanted to create was art piece out of an accessory, something that was so unique and unusual for such a common item. Work like the Bad Romance razor shades and designer Kerin Rose really inspired me. I liked the mechanical part we see in cameras called aperture – it dilates and contracts to let light in, replicating the human pupil.
The sunglasses are like mechanical simulations of the eyes beneath. Our eyes are transformed into cameras. It highlights how in today’s society, almost everything we see is captured. Nothing goes undocumented”.
“The glasses themselves are made of two iris diaphragm apertures, used in optics laboratories. The frame and lenses are a bright transparent blue. Acquiring the perfect parts and frame was the hard part, fixing them together took a little glue and a steady hand.
After making them in early 2011, I put them away in a box, waiting to give to Gaga someday. When she visited Australia for the Born This Way Ball I gave them to her in a gift package. It took me completely by surprise when I saw she was wearing those sunglasses in Paris!”
And we are so happy for you, Dan!
The look was completed with custom Pleaser electric-blue Flamingo-1020 lace-up leather platform ankle boots
BACK IN TIME: LADY GAGA OUT AND ABOUT IN ISTANBUL IN KLEMENTS, GASPAR & DANIEL STEPHEN
Lady Gaga took some time off between “ArtRAVE” rehearsals and shows to explore some of the cities she’s never been to. In Turkey she went to various rehearsals, markets and even to the beach.
Let’s talk about her little incognito look she chose to wear during a shopping trip in Istanbul on September 16, 2014.
Gaga wore the Myxomatosis silk scarf by British luxury accessory label Klements as a hijab.
The printed scarf is from their “Dark Voyage” collection. “Inspiration for the collection came from winter voyages of the past. A cocktail of Herman Melville's 'Moby Dick' (or The Whale), and the 1889 art works flooding the circumference 'Bourse De Commerce' in Paris.”
The scarf features an arresting collage of Charlotte Allen's original photography depicting neon imagery of close up rabbit faces and softly oversized multi-colored feathers.
Her large black round sunglasses with camera frames are custom-made for her by Daniel Stephen.
You might remember her Gaspar black leather opera gloves with zippers from her Grammys 2011 winning speech moment.
Gagaloo also opted for Manolo Blahnik’s black suede pumps with pointed toe.
After the first part of our 2014 Instagram Fashion Roundup, I’ve decided to bring you the second serving since you’re not the only ones who are eaaaager to take a closer look at the gorgeous garments Gaga wore in her Jazz-accented era.
"My 'unwrapping my shoppin' outfit #ladiesnight #getthewine 👗👠👜💋"” Gaga instagrammed on July 6th after a huge shopping trip at Divine Decadence Originals in Toronto.
The singer wore a yellow and blue gingham print V-neck top and matching scarf she styled as a headband by Missoni.
On July 11, Gaga showed off the outfit she wore to meet fans after her show in Chicago.
The light short-sleeved bouclé jacket with buttoned front and matching pencil skirt are from Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2009 prêt-à-porter collection, sourced from I Miss You Vintage.
Her fine sheer daisy lace corset with garters is a 1950s piece from Warner’s "Merry Widow" line which Gaga found at Divine Decadence Originals.
Warner’s released its first line of "Merry Widow" foundation garments in 1952. The collection was inspired by the release that same year of the movie "The Merry Widow", whose star, Lana Turner, was featured wearing an elaborate, long-line corset.
"Me and @jeffkoonsstudio giving a group chat today. Asia came along too, she dressed me." Gaga mingled among the guests at Yellowstone Club on July 18, wearing another Chanel creation - this time from the Pre-Fall 2008 “Paris-London” Métiers d’Art collection!
The short-sleeved black bouclé jacket and balloon skirt set boast jewel-embroidered floral buttons, pockets, stand-up collar and hem. And yes, this is yet another I Miss You Vintage discovery.
On the same day she took a flight in a helicopter, rocking a vintage beaded coat from Carolina Herrera’s Fall/Winter 2002 collection. This romantic beauty features a floral pattern all over.
Underneath she wore her favorite vintage Iron Maiden distressed shirt.
The oversized black frames are the Ultra Goliath II sunglasses are from the Vintage Frames Company x Goliath “Dr. Shapiro” collection.
Back on January 22, Gaga posted a selfie on Little Monsters with the caption “#GunnarSelfie. I love these glasses. Patented technology, keep my eyes from computer/phone screen stinging. #DOPE”.
The vintage 1980s IIF orange & black suede jacket with round, gold-tone studs was customized by DOG owner Kai Satake with various Medusa medaillons, rectangular metal appliqués and many other elements.
The glasses are the GUNNAR Intercept glasses in “Fire”.
With the introduction of the INTERCEPT Color Collection, they’ve given everyone, from hardcore gamers to creative designers to technophiles of all types, a chance to show off their individuality and style – while protecting and enhancing their vision.
On November 18, Gaga posted a photo of herself signing copies of 'Cheek to Cheek’.
She wore Matthew Adams Dolan’s Spring/Summer 2015 blue loose-fit denim jeans with fringe details on the sides and open leg along with a vintage Mötley Crüe band tee.
“Heathrow baby, on to the next flight Geoffrey Beene Vintage on the plane and some panther earrings 🐾 meow I can’t wait to see my fans in Dubai one more flight!“ were the words that accompanied Gaga’s selfie on September 8.
She sported vintage Geoffrey Beene. This satin dress belongs to his Fall/Winter 1983 collection and boasts quilted red panels, a slit neck and gold embroidery.
Pictured above is a similar jacket and dress from the same collection.
The Italian-American beauty accessorized with a pair of custom shades that little monster and young hobby designer Daniel Stephen made for her.
Her panther door knocker earrings are vintage Ciner with diamante and green eyes set in gold tone metal, dating back to the 1960s.
She also sported this Tiffany & Co. 18k yellow-gold bow twist wire ring on her pinky finger!
The same day she posted this adorable bedtime selfie with the caption "And now it's sleepy time, I'm meeting Asia in Dubai but I miss her so I dressed like a jazzy 🐷😂".
She’s looking cozy and adorable in this Kigurumi Shop fleece pig onesie which features a buttoned front and the cutest piggy face on the hood!
During her Coachella set, Lady Gaga debuted a bunch of cool visuals which were either used as intros, interludes and one even for the single cover of her one-off single “The Cure”.
The visuals were shot by Lobstereye — a creative studio owned by Andrea Gelardin & Ruth Hogben. She was styled by Sandra Amador.
In the first one, which served as the interlude of the show, Gaga is swallowing an octopus tentacle while wearing a silver rose stem earring from Alan Crocetti’s Fall/Winter 2017 jewelry collection.
In the behind-the-scenes image above we can see that she also wore these comfy UGG Alena Fawn suede slippers with UGGpure™ lining, bow detail and flexible rubber sole cradles.
For the “The Cure” backdrop/single cover, our girl is rocking Parisian-born designer Faustine Steinmetz. Gaga knows how to pick a talented emerging designer and Steinmetz certainly fits the bill.
The crinkled indigo blue organza denim jacket and trousers, which are from the Spring/Summer 2017 collection, feature a slight iridescent shine, large buttons, pockets and contrast white stitching.
The oversized blue square-shaped angled hoop earrings were made by Alexis Bittar in collaboration with Jeremy Scott for his Spring/Summer 2016 collection.
Now about those funky boots. These are the floral-print jersey sock Knife boots from Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
This one was worn during the “Triptych” backdrop. Gaga’s pink sequined mock-neck crop top is ASOS and was sourced at The Ruby Fashion Library.
Her bubblegum-pink silk crêpe chaps and briefs with silk lining and buckled waist were proposed by Christian Cowan’s for his Fall/Winter 2017 collection.
These sunglasses were something I wanted to see on her ever since laying eyes on them.
The Rocker Fish O2(Y) yellow-tinted stainless steel shades are created by Gentle Monster for Hood By Air’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
Gaga’s heart-shaped opulent rainbow crystal and gold choker is by Mordekai ($1,345).

Balenciaga put out the most interesting boots for the Spring/Summer 2017 season.
The singer sported a pair of the purple neoprene Knife boots. These thigh-high boots look as though neoprene tights were pulled over a pair of stiletto pumps.
For the “Just Dance” backdrop, Gaga is seen dancing around a bright green leopard knit catsuit with glitter insets and a red fur stole.
She also sported the Manolo Blahnik Storm metallic ankle strap pumps in pink!
The outfit for the “Sexxx Dreams” backdrop was this Cosabella Marni bodysuit with mesh panels and plunging neck.
Finally, the “Telephone” backdrop. The Italian-American beauty is wearing a pair of custom oversized white yarn-covered Chic Rodeo sunglasses by young fan and designer Daniel Stephen. Again, paired with the aforementioned Alan Crocetti rose earring.
