Things are getting Grimmer

Company Daily - 23rd of April

Today we kicked off the process of The Grimm Tales with the First Year actors. First we were amalgamated into one big group to be told the brief for the next two weeks and the five groups that we were put into. Then we separated into two small groups but still consisted of a lot of actors in both groups. We managed to pull of a company warm up with the diverse first year and second year company.

The company in the Studio done:

21 buffalo, The catching the finger on the palm game, then the tapping the knee game, and then we played games in groups of four and we just had to play a game with each other without speaking to one another, The Sloppy Running which we were then asked to pause and create a sound and a movement, then had to give a line from which ever piece of text we wanted to do, Pass the Sound, The Ladder Game And finally Red Potato, Black Potato.

How did you find the warm up today? Did it get you warm? What did the group in the white room do? What did your warm up consist of?

After we had the short break, we went back into our rooms and then into our five different groups and starting sharing notes of what we know about The Grimm Tales. I know my group had a few key words that stood out to us a lot such as words like Gory and Dark Comedy, But what words did other groups think stood out for them? Also what did you think of the groups that we were put in and what did you first think when you were put into these groups?

After lunch, we got back onto the floor and were asked to come and gather in our groups in front of the Directors. We were then told that we had to have a representative from each group come up and pick out a story that Den had picked for us to read and just go over with today. We were also asked to create five tableaux’s for the five most significant moments for the story. What did you think when you first heard of the story’s name? what do you think now after reading the story? did we have enough time to read the story’s and to create five tableaux’s? Did you finish your tableaux’s?

I've recently been lucky enough to move back to the beautiful country that is New Zealand. My first gig here has been taking photo's at Wanderlust yoga festival in Lake Taupo. I had such a great time and met some incredible people including these two; Daniel Scott and Sami Dorman who were teaching acro yoga classes there. I spent a sweaty half an hour in the bushes with them trying to capture the intamacy between them and their practice. They were so great to shoot. Thanks so much guys.

I read this bit of information in college today, and really thought it was interesting. Its going on from what Mary put a post up about but divulging into it a bit more and showing you a lot more. I would like to hear from you about your opinions and how you feel. I think its fantastic that we get to read the origins of how the story came about and how all the pieces fit into the puzzle.

Spotlighting

Company Daily 14/10/2014

Footloose

We were called early in early today because we were running Footloose with Vicki seeing that that was the only time she and we had free. I came in a bit late but from what I saw, the dance is really coming on, we are all thinking about little extra's we could put in like smiling and bigger movement, so that is really nice.

What do you think about the dance rehearsal? Was Vicki a big help for you personally?

Working the Showcase

We started working on the showcase with Den today, placing and plotting all of the different monologues and songs and seeing what worked best. The day was really nice today because we got to see the set and where all the pieces of the showcase are being placed. Personally really liked being carried in by the boys.

How did you find the day? Are you happy with the placing of your monologue or song? Do you have any better recommendations?

Moving into the White

I just want everyone to take notice on the ending of the piece with Anna's song. I feel it is a great ending to the showcase and I think everyone felt that moment that we all had, either with our characters or with Anna's singing, but we all felt it, and I would like to get your opinions and views guys.
