I suddenly realised another thing that made me so emotional about the ending of Demonslayer. Danila sees Yana, Balor and Pasha again, and he sees them together in a hundred - hell, in a thousand - different realities. In each and every one of those, they met. They found a way to be together. So many things are different, but their friendship, their small, unlikely family stays. There is not a reality where they did not meet.
Maybe it started as an unlikely friendship, or a rivalry, or something completely different, like Pasha catching Yana driving without a helmet or driving with a cat in the motorcycle basket. Maybe they sought each other out unkowingly, maybe something drew them towards each other - a fate they chose, that maybe wasn’t theirs, but they took it anyway. They met up of their own accord, without Danila’s intervention.
(Even without Danila, we see that Yana and Balor would’ve still met, or at least crossed paths, sooner or later. Who’s to say there wasn’t something similar in other universes?)
Danila’s universe revolves around them. After all the suffering and the pain, it is what he needs to know he is in the right world. Why would it be shown to him, if not for him to know who he’d done it for (and who had done it for him, for each other)?
And in the end, Danila gets the chance to make his own universe. To make it what he wishes - and there is no world where he would be without them.
One way, or another, you will find your people.
