Excerpt from a story I 'swear' I'll write someday, hopefully.
(the names are placeholders, haven't gotten that far in story planning yet)
“There’s no way you’re six feet.” Bruno said, messing up his boyfriends skee-ball toss.
He missed and the buzzer on the arcade machine went off. He was just shy of beating his last score.
“What?” Peter asked, confusion all over the idol’s face.
“Your idol profile lists you as being six feet tall.” Bruno said as he crouched down to pick up the tickets from the machine. “But you’re not. Just another lie.” He smirked up at him.
Over the couple months Bruno had dated Peter, he’d learned there’s a lot of lies in the idol industry. Many he’d already assumed, height was one of them.
Peter had a sly smile as Bruno stood up.
“And how are you so sure?” Peter crossed his arms.
“Because I’m five six and conscious about height. I’ve stood next to six feet tall people, and they’re taller than you.” Bruno bumped Peter’s shoulder lightly.
Peter chuckled as he swayed a little “And how do you know those other people weren’t lying about their height?”
Bruno rolled his eyes. His boyfriend was trying very hard to defend this lie. “Oh come on, you’re five ten at best sweetheart.”
Peter’s mouth opened and closed quickly. He turned away and Bruno saw his ears turn red.
Bruno couldn’t hold back a smile. He wasn’t sure if Peter’s blush was because of the nickname or because he got the height right, but it was cute either way.
“No way, did I get it right?” Bruno teased. He leaned in and poked Peter’s sides. “Did I? Did I?”
Peter squirmed, but tried his best to hold in a laugh.
After a few seconds Peter stepped away laughing. Bruno didn’t pursue, just smiled at his work.
“You’re right.” He said between breaths. “I’m five ten. The company just thought it’d be better to bump it up a bit.”
Bruno gave a disappointed sigh. “These companies and their height egos.”
Peter shrugged. “They think it’ll help with our image. And you can’t tell anyone.”
“Oh you have a height ego too?” Bruno teased.
Peter let out a short laugh. “No, just don’t want my company to think there’s a mole or anything.”
“I’m a mole now?” Bruno crossed his arms.
“The cutest one.” Peter smiled.
Bruno looked away, but knew his cheeks were reddening.
“I’d only tell my best friend, she’s the only one I ever talk to about idol stuff. So you have nothing to worry about.” Bruno brushed two fingers over his lips in a zipping motion.
Peter smirked. “You didn’t lock it, how can I be sure you won’t open it?”
Bruno rolled his eyes. He did a locking motion on the corner of his mouth and tossed the ‘key’ away.
Bruno gave Peter a look, asking if that was good enough.
Peter laughed. “Ok seems good enough. Now, what game should we play next?”
Bruno pointed to one end of the arcade and mumbled with his mouth closed about a machine there.
Peter narrowed his eyes and slumped his shoulders. “Bruno.”
Bruno made a “huh” noise with his throat and started mumbling about another machine.
Peter rolled his eyes. “Babe.”
Bruno pointed to another machine and continued mumbling.
Peter walked up, leaned in close, and cupped Bruno’s face in his hands. “You can still talk to me, my love.”
A gasp escaped Bruno’s lips. He felt his face heating up. Sometimes it was hard to remember his dorky boyfriend was a charismatic idol capable of captivating an entire stadium of fans with his group members. But moments like this, it jolted him back to that reality.
“Yeah.” Was all Bruno was able to say.
Peter smiled, and Bruno’s heart flipped. It was very different seeing his smile up close rather than on a screen. On the screen, Bruno’s heart raced; this close, his heart was doing an entire CrossFit course.
“Can I kiss you?” Peter asked. He glanced at Bruno’s lips before focusing back on his eyes.
“Yeah.” Bruno said again. His brain had short circuited.
Peter smiled again and leaned in for the kiss. Their lips met. Bruno’s heart went crazy. He wondered if he’d ever get used to this, if his heart would eventually calm down whenever they kissed. Part of him didn’t want it to.
Hey everyone sorry I haven’t been on here much, but I’m still alive and kicking. That being said I’m more active on Twitter, you can follow me there @gamernovellist if you want ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyways, thought I should update y’all and tell you that I decided to take a break on working on my WIP ‘The Shadows of Magic’. I realized that the story was taking too long and that I had characters and scenes that didn’t add anything to the story and/or were slowing it down. I was at 90k words and only a through a quarter of outline. So I’m going to work on another book to detach myself from my old book so that I’ll be able to make the necessary changes. I also felt that a stand-alone book would be better as a debut novel than a the first of a series. I’m already working on character profiles and outlines and I’m really super excited for this book. I’m planning on it being my NaNoWriMo book, so hopefully I’ll have mostly everything planned by then.
Earth is divided into two worlds, the Natural world of humans, and the Supernatural world of creatures.
Daryl Crawford...
Hey everyone, I’m going to start posting my book on Wattpad to sort of get feedback on it. So far I have the Prologue and Chapter 1 posted. I’m planning on updating it biweekly, to give me enough time to write more and so I don’t catch up with what I have written so quickly.
It’s about this kid, Daryl, discovering he’s an angel and learning how to use his abilities to defeat demons that are losing people and also save one of his friends from being possessed.
There’s a variety of other supernatural creatures in the story, like mages, werewolves, elves, and vampires.
I know I’ve disappeared recently, I accidentally uninstalled Tumblr from my phone while it was gone from the App Store so I didn’t have it for a while. I’m not used to using the website. But I found a way to get it back.
So about NaNoWriMo, I wrote a total of 20,276 words. My personal goal was 30k. I didn’t reach it but I was close enough (and I was writing, which is the most important part).
As for everything that’s going on in Tumblr, I’m still sticking around. But if anyone want to follow me elsewhere my Twitter handle is DaniloFCassiano. (Be warned, I don’t use it a lot).
So today was a good day for my writing. Despite finding out I had skipped some scenes the last time I worked on my draft. And that my ‘fixing my outline’ while currently writing the draft made a big mess of things. But I worked it out and figured out what to do. Now I’m currently writing a nightmare scene that I skipped, but oh am I excited.
I would continue writing today, but unfortunately I have to go to work.
I only had a couple hours to write before work and I made the most of it because I knew I wasn’t going to write after work. I was able to finish the nightmare scene that I had skipped, and I loved it (I don’t know why I like writing creepy stuff, I hate remotely scary movies).
I probably should’ve mentioned this in my first NaNo post, but I have a personal goal of 30,000 words. I’m still going for the 50k, but my main concern is 30k. Mostly because I don’t think I’ll be able to write all that with work and school. But if I reach 30,000 before the end of the month I’ll be going for 50,000.
So, it might not have been a good idea to watch Harry Potter while writing. I still wrote, but my attention obviously wasn’t on writing lol.
That didn’t matter much anyways since my parents had me doing a bunch of errands since, according to them, ‘I would be doing nothing today’. I also had a test to study for and D&D to play at night (I’m the DM). So my full free day where I didn’t have work or school that I was sure I’d write a lot, turned into me not writing much. I also got some terrible news of a cousin passing away, so that really took my motivation to write for the day, but my friends were already on their way to play so I had to put on a brave face.
