"You're so cute, you made me forget my pickup line!"
The sound of the familiar voice was welcome, if somewhat earlier than he’d expected his partner to be home. He turned, and rewarded the sweet words with a short, but tender, kiss. “You feel you still have to use them? We’re raising a child together, you don’t need to break the ice. Speaking of,”
In a split second his face became stony. “Your daughter broke two of my pots and almost drowned one of my succulents,” as he spoke he put his hands on his hips in mock annoyance but it wasn’t long before his face softened.
“But, she really enjoyed her day as my assistant, and she seems to have tired herself out.” He cast a glance to where the mischievous child had plonked herself down on the couch and promptly fallen into a deep sleep, snuggled under her favourite blankie.
