Yeah, I really think that it is a kiss on the cheek...

I feel like with the attention to detail in this episode, and just the scenes around the kiss... They would have showed it differently. That's an odd angle. Shaw's probably trying to keep the upper hand on the situation, still distancing herself despite showing Root that she cares. 

She looks like she's stuggling with the decision, she doesn't want to leave after a physical declaration like that but she has to. If she had kissed Root on the lips, it probably would have been more difficult. Or that is how my mind is seeing it, anyway.

If it was a kiss on the lips... Then that was a SHIT angle and I highly doubt they would do that. Doesn't line up with the hard work they put into it. And the actresses wanted a kiss as bad as we did, so it wasn't them.  :P
