saw a post like "oh wicked looks like that because jon m chu made a bold directorial choice to use pastels in his story so you shouldn't criticize him" and like first of all i'll criticize him because it looks like shit. second of all this is a massive fucking blockbuster movie, do not sit there and pretend like the sancticty of the artistic vision is being challenged, and third of all, don't make the choice to lightand shoot in pastels when your main charachter is Bright Fucking Green

yeah lol i think i remember after the first film got the same criticisms he talked in an interview about how it was a deliberate choice to color it this way because the story needed to "feel more real" and grounded bc if it felt too colorful and "fake" then audiences wouldn't feel the stakes of the Real relationship between the two women… very stupid thing to say just on its face but doubly so when you look at how vibrant and saturated the set photos are

but anyways yeah also very funny for him to pretend this is His Artistic Vision when it's IMMEDIATELY clockable as MCU airplane hangar overcast flat lighting like okay glad you had the same artistic vision as a car commercial
