In the main event, John Bradshaw Layfield defended the WWE Championship against Big Show in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage match.

In the end, Big Show seemed to have won the match after JBL was chokeslammed through the ring and Big Show escaped through the cage door but JBL escaped from under the ring first, as shown in the replay, which allowed JBL to retain the WWE Championship.

After the match, The Cabinet prevented Big Show from attacking JBL and attacked Big Show until Royal Rumble winner Batista made the save as JBL got out the ring, leading to JBL being attacked by number one contender John Cena.

During the match, Big Show prevented interference from Luther Reigns and Mark Jindrak, who interfered on behalf of Angle.

In the end, after Orlando Jordan brought him back to the ring as The Bashams attacked Big Show outside the ring, John Bradshaw Layfield defeated Kurt Angle to retain the WWE Championship.
