You know, if Danny Phantom ever got rewritten/rebooted and they wanted to include his iconic DP and circumvent the whole "let's recreate the portal accident just to give our hero a cool logo" thing, all they really need to do is have Jack and Maddie—the "name everything after ourselves" enthusiasts that they are—design each member of the family's jumpsuits with their initials. In fact, to prevent the fact that no one can tell both Dannys are connected no matter how obvious it is from becoming even more ridiculous, just like the accident altered his appearance, it could also alter the initials on Danny's suit. Maybe, they go from a simple DF, to the classic ghost-like DP we all know and love. You know, just a simple idea to include his logo without overcomplicating things or wasting budget money.

Ladies, gentlemen, assembled nobility, people of the jury, Samantha Manson.

This is but a small sampling of her expansive wardrobe, and maybe I’ll come back and add some more outfits.

My version of Sam is confident and self assured. She knows exactly who she is and what she wants from life, and she’s willing to fight for it. She’s still a vegan, and still encourages the lifestyle, but she’s less militant about it around people who respect her diet. She’s not afraid to throw hands when people don’t respect her, or others. Those big boots aren’t called shit kickers for nothing. She’s dabbled with wicca, and collects esoteric books on the occult. She also likes using retro tech, like a Walkman and vinyl record player, mostly because it drives Tucker crazy.

She has a fascination with horror, both the classics, and more modern stuff. She’s definitely the kind of girl who wore fake fangs for a whole year, without considering the moral dilemma of being a vegan and cosplaying like a creature who subsists entirely on blood. She’s also the kind of girl to punch a homophobe.

Okay, but...

If there's a reboot, I don't want a "Darker Danny Phantom", I want "Danny Phantom Taken Seriously". Because every issue and criticism I have of the show is because it's supposed to be, first and foremost, a comedy. I know it's an "action comedy", but it never had a good balance (and very few of the jokes were actually funny).

It was supposed to be a silly show with silly characters and silly episodic villains. Characters and Lore aren't just inconsistent, they're supposed to be inconsistent, because it's all either a joke or an excuse for a fight scene. Even it's "serious" villains are surrounded by silly, unserious plots and characters, The Joke still takes precedent. Literally, if you think of all the best episodes they're all the "serious" ones, and they still have bits that are just unfunny or completely undercut the episode. Seriously, cheating on a test isn't the end of the world and making that The Point of the episode is both unserious and unfunny despite how cool the core concept of "fighting your evil future self" is; Danny isn't a bully for using his powers to punish a different bully, no matter how interesting Sydney is as a character. Danny Phantom rarely, if ever, managed to not make a lazy joke at the expense of a serious moment.

If there's a reboot, it can still be funny, there can still be jokes, but it should be serious about the characters, the world, the plots, and the jokes themselves! Comedy is a tool. Jokes can be extremely useful in managing tone, expectation, and character. Danny Phantom just never did that very well.

The Curse of Danny Phantom

The agony of every Danny Phantom fan is having in mind a cool darker reboot of the show and knowing that Nickelodeon would never greenlight it even if it was sanitized as much as possible.

One of the coolest premises for a superhero ever...cursed to have been made by a Televangelist for the fart joke network, where it remains stuck.

Still excited about the upcoming comic adaptation though.
