Alex had never take a sick day. Even when her body aches for high fever, she would just go and take a cold shower as many times necessary or when she couldn’t think about food without grabbing the nearest trash can.
She can’t have that privilege.
Who will take charge of the DEO? Who will provide safety to the habitants of Earth? Who will make sure Kara don’t get hurt?
So many times he and Supergirl have swear to do her job just to make her go and rest but Alex Danvers is too stubborn for that.
Because now there is Kelly.
And Kelly see how she keeps sneezing, how she keeps blowing her nose, how her eyes are smaller and red.
“Baby are you okay?” she asks making her way to the table where Alex is fighting the rainy nose.
“I’m just trying to get the laptop turn on to finish this-“
“I mean, are you okay” Kelly interrupts making sure Alex understood the question.
“Oh yes is just pollen, bad weather the guy from the news said it.”
“Mhmm” is the only response she can manage.
But is not until pass four in the morning, when Kelly feel Alex’s temps to be comfortable, hear her sneezes getting more and more consecutives, fallow by an unpleasant moan.
“Alex?” Kelly calls before pleasing a hand on her girlfriend's arm. “Oh God Alex you’re hot!”
Alex clear her throat before answering “Yeah I been told” with a shaky smirk.
“You have fever this isn’t time to joke!”
“I’m fine!” she whimpers while getting more into the sheets.
“Stop acting like a child! Where are the medicine?”
“In the bathroom cabinet” Alex was able to answer.
Kelly get up without hesitation, rushing to the bathroom to only found a first aid kit.
“Alex there are only band aids” she says looking down at her that is now in a fetal position.
“Okay get up!” Kelly push her up. She starts to remove Alex shirt noticing the wet spots in the back area.
“What are you doing?” she protests submitting at her girlfriend attempts.
Alex would hate this. Having someone else taking care of her make her feel vulnerable like a hopeless child.
But this isn’t someone else. This is her Kelly and she knows there is no better place to be vulnerable than Kelly’s arms.
Besides she feels horrible to argue so she let her take her clothes off and wrap her in a towel just to be lean to the shower where Kelly find the perfect temperature. Not too cold nor too hot. Just perfect.
Once she get used to the soft crash of the water Alex feel unexpected pleasure and relief. She stays there until all the sweat and heat are cold down.
When she’s out of the shower she notices the new pair of clothes Kelly has leave in the towel rack. A white shirt and gray boxers. She manages to get out of the shower just to see Kelly finishing changing the bed sheets and wearing some snow boots and a heavy coat.
“I’m going to check if the store in the corner have some medicine for the fever.” Kelly answer giving a few little squish to the pillow.
“Oh baby you don’t have to!”
“I know! Now get in!” she helps Alex get into the bed before giving a kiss in top of the head. “I want to! It will be fast. Just try to rest!” The only response was she could manage was a smile.
She doesn’t know how long did it take until a soft touch and a sweet whisper wake her up.
After taking the pill Alex notice the sunrise, making her rushing to get out of bed.
“Absolutely not!” she pushes her gently down on the bed and put the sheets again over her. She starts caressing her hair making Alex close her eyes almost instantly “You need to rest Director Danvers. J’onn and Supergirl will keep the world safe on your half” she continues.
“There isn’t a chance I can convince you otherwise huh?”
“Mmm no” Kelly still with a sweet and demanding tone.
Alex pout before surrender and for that Kelly give her a small kiss in her forehead and “Good girl” whisper. She grabs her by the hand before she leaves the bed.
“Would you join me before you leave to work?”
“It offends me that you think I will leave you alone. I will put the orange juice on the fringe and then I will cuddle you. And no, you are not going to get me sick!”
Alex doesn’t have another alternative than smile and accept she’s no longer alone. Because now there is this kind, lovely, caring woman that is willing to go outside at five in the morning just to buy her some medicine.
“I will definitely marry you!”
“I know” Kelly chuckles “Now sleep!”
