Mini-review:

OK, color me surprised, cause this was really damn good. The concept sounded very silly, but the movie thankfully embraces that silliness and runs with it. The animation style is a delight, showcasing once again that Sony Pictures Animation is one of the best studios in the world right now. But don't be fooled by its flashiness: it also carries an impressive amount of emotional substance. The second half gets pretty dramatic, and the characters and their relationships are so well drawn that all of it hits you like a truck. The central message is pretty generic, but it's also one that always works when it's done right, like in this case. Oh, and the music is way better than I ever expected; like, these songs run circles around most of the stuff the K-pop industry is putting out these days. So if you're a fan of K-pop, fun animation or a good time, do not miss out on K-Pop Demon Hunters.

Sony Pictures Animation’s K-Pop: Demon Hunters follows a world-renowned K-Pop group who balance their on-stage lives with their secret identities as demon hunters. Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans are directing from a script by Hannah McMechan and Danya Jimenez. Aron Warner is serving as producer. Mingjue Helen Chen is production designer. Ami Thompson is onboard as art director.

Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan are screenwriters who co-wrote the screenplay for K-Pop Demon Hunters alongside Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. I put them together because I learnt about them together and I'm lazy

Danya Jimenez! Jimenez's has done basically everything, in the film industry. From writing, production design, to acting, all sorts. She's credited for taking part in writing short films like The Virgin Maggi and Wrinkles... and Other Unfortunate Defects. You'll find her in the weirdest places, like Disney for some reason?

As for Hannah McMechan She's specialised in writing, directing, and producing. She wrote and directed the short film Ladyhood and also penned scripts for The Virgin Maggi and Wrinkles... and Other Unfortunate Defects like Danya. She contributed to Gabby Duran & The Unsittables as a writer for the same two episodes on Disney as Jimenez.
