I loooooove Danyle.... ouuughhh I think it's so much healthier and more balanced in power dynamics than Sa//mL//yle, there's no history of breaking boundaries and trust, Lyle isn't as sickly dependent on Dan as he is Sam...

I like S//amL//yle too, but there's a hurt he's caused there that is simply irreparable, and when he gets cursed and Lyle gains access to his powers... I think a switch flips within him that gives him the possibility of turning into a literal irredeemable monster (the soul stealing). I think the transformation VASTLY changes how he experiences the world and his place in it. And Sam's place in his own.

But back to Danyle... I think Dan has the ability to grow in maturity, he's obviously a bit stunted in that department because of the abuse he's been put under (my own Dan that I write has a specific flavour of this), and I think he can with the help of Lyle get there faster if they interact since Lyle is surprisingly down to earth and tends to actually remain very calm, patient yet of course frustrated with him when they talk... have you noticed how quick Lyle deescalates things when Dan gets heated?

Meanwhile I think Dan also brings Lyle out of his perceived world view that's kinda fucked and warped from his own isolation and fixation on Sam, his anxiety calms down around Dan and he dares to tell him off, but he never actually Fights him, even though it's fun to have them harmlessly bicker. If it goes too far, he calls it off. Because I think he Wants to level with Dan. He's annoying but I think Lyle, who is very observant, insightful, and perceptive (see the fortune teller bit for example, he's a camera after all, I think he's great at catching the little things about people..) albeit scared of interacting with the things he sees, perhaps being so good at Watching for this very reason... catches what Dan is actually like, not distracted by any dependency on him. Doesn't just see him as a bumbling rude idiot... and if given the space, I think they could be very vulnerable with each other and help each other grow. They're also both nerds and I think they should give each other room to enjoy that together, too.

I think Danyle is bordering on an OTP of mine, but I just don't know any Dan roleplayers so I've got no outlet here....

Danyle where Lyle can't stop being occasionally bitter about his choice in partner cus he really went from crushing on the most sweet and kind and humane man on planet Earth, to his obsession shifting to this creep.

This rude loser who fights him at every turn. This str*amer who only knows videos games and their history and shit all else. This sad gamer who does not know common TTRPG courtesy. This pathetic man with mommy issues who barely has a personality outside of his phone. He really wants to kiss this crybaby who does not know how to take care of himself because his mother has treated him like shit for so long he's not emotionally matured, so now Lyle has to come here and make sure he's okay and assure him that he's not all alone that despite what it might feel like. Even if the world would be ending they've got their friends and each other, it's not as bleak as it might seem. And if he does not believe it, he can take it from another pathetic, creepy, loser who has barely gone outside his apartment much either, unable to interact with other people without putting on a way too big grin and hope that he doesn't creep people out. Even people like them can find others who want to give them a chance.

And Lyle is one of them.

He hates that he's developed a photo of this man that he doesn't know what to do with, and he'd rather die than tell this manchild that he wants a stupid, dumb, gross smooch from him.

He could've had it all, and this is where he's at.

God... Dammit.
