i fully believe that no one thinks gansey is Normal™, those teachers giving him books and peers being nice to him is less "this is a very nice young man with a lot of potential" and more "that gansey kid is a little odd but you should be nice to him, he's got good reason to act Like That, plus have you seen his face when you allow him to talk about a dead welsh king??? pure unbridled joy please just let him be". the reason why we, as readers, don't know this, is because gansey himself thinks he is normal and therefore has no reason so think that others find him odd. i'll die on this hill.
