The captain had left without seeing the card that had been sent by a pleased dignitary. Janice had attempted to give it to him but the day's events had gotten so hectic there hadn't been a chance to present him with anything that didn't require a signature. The day hadn't been hectic in a sense that things were dire, but rather busy. Janice couldn't remember if she'd sat down or eaten. It didn't matter; the job got done.
After deciding that it would be pleasant for Kirk to wake up to the physical representation of his successful relationship with a large group of people, Janice chose to slide the card underneath the man's door. It was late as she walked down the hall toward his quarters. She hadn't been 'on duty' for hours though Janice didn't take the time constraints of a certain shift to heart. If there was something to be done, she'd do it.
As she bent down to slide the card underneath the door, she heard what sounded like movement from within. The yeoman looked at her PADD. She wondered what cause the captain to be up and about at such a time. She quietly addressed him through the door, "Sir? Are you awake?" It seemed like such a silly question to ask as she stood in the middle of the hallway but she couldn't help but feel that if the man was up, there was a reason and it probably wasn't a good one.
