"Rand itāsā¦itās fine. Youāre just joining the probably hundreds of people on this ship whoāve seenāwell, everything."
"Wait, what - hundreds? How is that -" Janice shook her head, "I'm still sorry. It wasn't my intention. I just have an update to your schedule."Ā
MUSE IS UNDER TRUTH SERUM FOR ONE HOUR. ASK ME ANYTHING. NOTHING IS OFF LIMITS AND EVERYTHING MUST BE ANSWERED. GO!
SEND ME A ā FOR MY MUSE'S REACTION TO YOURS PICKING THEM UP AND THROWING THEM OVER THEIR SHOULDER
bonus points for the reason
During a thunderstorm Muse A shows up on Muse Bās doorstep, soaked, shivering and bloody. The only thing they remember is Muse B.
"I donāt think I need to. Iām pretty sure everyone already knows it."
"Remind me to try out all of my jokes on you. At least someone will be impressed."

"Oh, oh wow. I didn't mean to - I didn't see anything.
"Well, Iāve got considerably low standards, so that might explain it."
Janice cringed in an exaggerated fashion, "You may not want to tell people that."

Scotty was in a predicament. He thought heād be able to fix the blasted machine in front of him with out Keensers help. He was positive that he would have been able to get his arm in the crack to flip the switch on the back panel. But there he was glaring at the switch that seemed to be mocking him. He would have just asked Keenser to take care of the problem but the blasted wee man had disappeared again. Probably climbing on something he shouldnāt be climbing on. Ā
He ran a hand down the lower half of his face and gave a groan. He needed to get that thing flipped before he could finish with the rest of his tasks for the day, but who knew when Keenser would come wandering back, and he didnāt feel comfortable asking anyone else for help. It was then that he heard a voice ask him the dreaded question. He should have known that if he stood there long enough someone would call him out on it.Ā
He glanced over and gave a smile as he took note of who it was. He didnāt know the yeoman well but heād seen her wander in and out of Engineering from time to time. Heād almost asked her one time why she kept coming down to Engineering, but heād barely said hello when heād been called away by a glitch in the water system. āOh well yah know-ā He caught sight of her hands, of her arms and noted that they looked like they might just be able to do what he could not. āActually⦠do yah think I could convince yah tah give meh a hand right quick?ā He pointed to the small space that was giving him such trouble. āThereās a switch at tha back of this here space tha I need tah switch but I canāt fit my arm in there.ā He looked back at her. āWould yah mind doin tha fer meh?ā
It took Janice a whole millisecond to agree to help the engineer. āOf course, Sir,ā she replied with a nod. The yeoman moved past Montgomery in order to better access the narrow crack that housed the switch. āI have to say,ā Janice started as she reached back toward the switch. āThis is the first time Iāve ever been wanted for my size. Typically this situation is reversed and Iām in need of someone big.ā She could feel the switch under her fingers. With a smile, she flipped it.
Once her arm was back at her side, Janice looked around. āWhereās your other engineer, Keenser, is it?ā The yeoman couldnāt help but wonder why the small alien hadnāt helped out the Lieutenant Commander. Perhaps he wasnāt around. From what Janice had observed, he had a knack for zipping around from place to place.
The Time Agent blinked a bit, startled. āI-I dunno. I donāt think so. I only broke my hand but it never went numb..ā Kneeling down next to her, he slowly picked her up bridal style.
"Oh that's...that's not good." Janice tried to move as she was picked up. "You don't have to -" She truly did need assistance but Janice, per usual, was far more terrified of being a burden, than suffering alone.
"Youāre a live saver, Jan. You know that?"
"Your checklist for life savers must be pretty short. I'm helping you find a PADD, I'm not rescuing you from a man eating tree."
He cracks a grin. āIf you could find me a PADD, thatād be more than enough help. Iām sure Iāll eventually get the software thing figured out. ā
"That I can do. Come on, I know where the PADDs sleep."
"Iām trying to figure out a way to get the warp drive to automatically send out messages to mine and Scottyās PADDs, but the software Iām developing is only cooperating with some PADDs, so I need to figure out why. You gonna help me?"
"Help you with getting a PADD or help you figure out your problem? Because I can only guarantee success on the first request. But if you're asking me to help you touble-shoot, I'll offer what I can. Keep in mind that you're the genius."
theableyeoman
āJan! Hey, Janice, I was wondering if youād seen a spare PADD floating around? Iām working on this thing and I need one and thereās none left in Engineering.ā
"I'm sure I could find one. They all sort of materialize in front of me. People seem to think I service them, that or I've got some collection going. What are you working on?
"⦠I donāt think a foot is suppose to point that way."
"I have to agree. It's...I don't feel anything yet - that's bad, right?" Janice looked down at her foot and cringed. It was going to hurt and when it did, it wasn't going to be pretty.

Free time was almost like a rare bird. It appeared without warning and flew off before you could really appreciate it. When Janice did observe her time off, she typically either prepared for the next day or wandered around the ship sheād learned to call home. It was hard to really get bored upon the Enterprise.
Though she liked to see a little bit of everything, the yeoman always seemed to end up in engineering. On one hand, she felt bad about her presence amongst the machinery. Engineering wasnāt exactly the safest place for someone to just be. On the other hand, Janice liked to watch everyone work. It reminded her of watching her parents tinker with their own ship. A familiar and pleasant feeling would wash over Janice as she admired the skill of the crew.
Typically there wasnāt any sort of crisis or peril that had befallen the crew ā not when she was visiting at least. Theyād faced plenty of crises but she was always needed elsewhere in those situations.
However, as Janice walked onto the main landing of engineering, she caught sight of a rather bothered looking Montgomery Scott. She tried to read his lips but the man turned away. The yeoman wondered if it was appropriate to attempt to help the man. It wasnāt her department, and it surely wasnāt her job, but helping was something she always felt compelled to do.
Janice walked toward the engineer and gave him a soft smile. āIs everything alright, Mr. Scott?ā
So I'm dusting off the ol' gal and I'd love to get back to roleplaying. If I had a thread with you that you want to go back to, if I didn't and you wanted/want one, please let me know. I'm excited to get back in the saddle...the space saddle.
