NOTD: Manis That (Almost) Didn't Make It #4

This mani was super awesome in theory but did not translate well into reality. I used a bunch of China Glaze glitter polishes with matching base colours as undies. The yellow glitter didn't really show up over the yellow creme and everything else just looks kind of... tacky?

I absolutely loved wearing this combination but my photos simply didn't come out! This is three coats of OPI Y'all Come Back Ya Hear, an orange jelly, with one coat of Daring Digits Peppered Up sandwiched between another coat of the OPI.

This mani was ridiculously amazing - one of my favourite combinations to date! I started with a base of Orly Ablaze and then layered one coat of Pahlish Brighter Than Sunflowers on top. My nails were shaped strangely on the day I wore this, though, and they looked super weird in the full hand photos.

Wonky nail shapes also ruined my photos of Peacock Pie Locket. Look at that pinky! Nasty. A beautiful mani regardless, this is two coats of Locket layered over two coats of OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook.

While Emily de Molly Cauldron of Dreams is a stunner, what is not nice to look at is gross, winter-ravaged cuticles. I’ve done my best to disguise them in these photos, but it took a while and I simply wasn’t interested in spending the time getting any more pics up to standard! This is two smooth, easy coats.

NOTD: Daring Digits Frosted Lights

Sometimes while 'shopping' my stash for a new polish to wear, I rediscover old favourites, or sometimes, suddenly remember I own something awesome that is still untried. This mani is brought to you by the second category! When I first saw swatches of this polish, I was so excited. I had wanted a polish exactly like this for ages. So, I bought it, and it seems I then promptly forgot about it. Hmmm. Not too sure what happened there, but at least it's finally seen the light of day now! This is three coats of Daring Digits Frosted Lights. It somehow manages to simultaneously look like Christmas lights and snow, and cake icing!

  Do you guys like Daft Punk? I do, and If you're like me and you've been waiting for this album for 7 years you're probably excited too.  I did these nails because their new album, Random Access Memories, came out today. I've been listening to the leak for about a week and I think it's pretty awesome!

   For these nails I started with two coats of a regular black, I used Essence Black is Back, on each finger.  For the logo on my thumb, I used white acrylic paint. The glitters on my index and middle fingers are Thomas and Guy-Manuel from Daring Digits Daft Punk set that I don't think is available anymore.

  The glitter on my ring and index fingers is just some loose black glitter that I poured over a coat of wet black polish. I used that because I think it looks like those really cool YSL sequin suits that they're wearing now.  I used two coats of top coat on these just to be sure that everything was nice and smooth.

NOTD: Daring Digits Punch Me Purple

I recently had a real itch to wear pink and purple together in a mani. These photos show what I came up with. I used two coats of Zoya Areej and one coat of Daring Digits Punch Me Purple.

Areej is an odd shade - personally, I say it's pink - but it does sit right on that fence between pink and purple, so I can understand if someone else calls it purple. Application was perfect, something I find with almost every Zoya I use.

Punch Me Purple is a clear-based glitter topper with teeny white hexes and larger purple hexes. I did need to dab this polish on as the purple hexes wanted to bunch up and stick to each other when I applied it with a swipe, but the consistency of the base was great. Sometimes I find indie glitter toppers have quite a thick base - none of that here though!

NOTD: Daring Digits Mango Square

My first polish from the indie brand Daring Digits - yay! I placed an order with some friends recently (um, OK, before Christmas) and I grabbed a number of polishes. You'll no doubt see many of them on the blog in the coming weeks!

Today's NOTD is one coat of Daring Digits Mango Square over two coats of Zoya Jancyn. While Jancyn is a lovely shade of orange - it's juicy, fruity, and just screams summer - it's formula sucks. Really badly. It's streaky and watery... just terrible. I couldn't wait to layer a glitter over the top to hide all of the imperfections. Mango Square to the rescue! Mango Square is a simple glitter mix: small white hexes and large yellow squares in a clear base. Application was great and I didn't need to fish around to get the squares out.

While I love the colour combination between the white, the yellow, and the orange, I don't know if I can love Jancyn. I hope there's another orange creme out there in the same shade with a better formula.
