The AU where Elsa is “dead”
In an alternate universe where the ending of Frozen II is the one which Elsa reminds frozen but she is hinted “alive” by the presence of a snowflake at the very end (rumours have it that this was the ending in the first screen test), and I Seek the Truth is included in the movie, what is Frozen III going to be about? Is it about Anna studiously going through Queen Iduna’s journals and books, and conducting research to figure out how to bring Elsa back, then setting off an epic journey to resurrect her true love? “Whatever it takes,” she says. Dark, but intriguing.
I also have a dark headcanon: What if Nokk, Bruni and the Earth Giants are not the spirits themselves, but were created by the spirits, who are ethereal beings without physical forms, as agents for them to intervene the physical reality? It is like Elsa can create Olaf, Marshmallow and the Snowgies but they are not the 5th spirit. In addition what if all the spirits are supposed to live in the ethereal plane, and the 5th spirit is no exception? Hence once one person has accepted their role as the 5th spirit, they transcend into an ethereal form and have to give up their physicality. So Elsa’s physical body is supposed to be frozen once she accepts her role as the 5th spirit during Show Yourself, and yes she is alive but she has lost her form. What will Anna do? What will Elsa do?
