One of the most debilitating things ever is finding out that the people closest to you don't see you how you see yourself. It is, of course, impossible for them to see you how you see yourself in a literal sense; everyone has a different perspective and all that. But I mean specifically in a way that is so distant and divorced from reality that you question whether you could actually say that they know you or not, and whether what you considered to be closeness has, in fact, been much more surface level than you thought.

Maybe relationships are like planets. The crust is deeper than you think, and without the bigger picture, it's very easy to think you've gotten past it when, really, you haven't.

Or maybe I'm just insecure.
