A Case for the Galadriel/Arondir/Celeborn OT3
Hang on tight, gonna start with the potential ship we’ve seen on screen/ met both of the participants for (this is being written pre season 3). Then then focus will move to how they could work as an ot3.
TLDR: guys it could be so good, could be amazing even, and they won’t do it but that’s why fanfic is wonderful.
Galadriel / Arondir
Shared experiences
*When he saved her/ the need for elven heroes moment
*Trauma- the loss of a significant other/ spouse

* His involvement in saving her when Elrond used the ring
* Her involvement in rescuing the southlanders
Shared interests
* Gardening- I sang of leaves and of gold and they grew vs grower before the war and garden fam
* Theo and children broadly speaking

*Shared allegiances – same king
*Same distance from king’s authority. He was went awol for bronwyn and to investigate the evidence of darkness in the south. She went awol because the Sauron was still out there and maybe some subconscious awareness that celeborn wasn’t in valinor
Moreover: ( in no particular order)
They see and speak directly to each other’s best self.
In their character arcs so far both have learned not to drink saltwater
He was there when his love died and accepts it, can speak of it
She is just getting to the point of verbalizing it.
She is energy and power, lighting seeking a grounding influence (her brother in childhood, celeborn, her fellow soldiers and king in the war etc)
He is a seed in the wind. Also seeking ground (bronwyn, Theo, his vow to the ents, vengeance, his oaths to his king)
Her first love was a prince in a settled realm that was broken by war after their marriage, royal hands heal in Tolkien
His first love was a healer who rose to leadership as her home was broken by war
Celeborn/ Galadriel / Arondir
Arondir is a silvan elf seeking a home. Celeborn and Galadriel will make realm populated by silvan elves. Celeborn as stabilizing influence for both of them
Arondir as middle point between Celeborn utter rootedness and Galadriel’s lightning? Galadriel is the mallorn leaves touching the sky, golden and noble but whim prone. Celeborn is the silver trunk and branches, Arondir as the flet/ Talan- the platform in the trees where home is built embracing and relying on both
Celeborn and Galadriel as healing, far seeing leaders, Arondir -who has learned Bronwyn’s practically- as near seeing loyal presence keeping them fed and calling them to self care. Celeborn who’s love language is clearly acts of service (takes on the lordship / administration of the city state Galadriel wanted to allow her to grow away from the desire for dominion, arguably at the cost of his own spiritual growth but that’s a different essay) would give that care back in spades.
Celeborn is used to Galadriel adopting people and this one is hot, and loving, and a good influence on his wife while being adorably amazed by his wife’s whole existence. It might be that he much desires to speak with him at first but those eyes and that good heart and did we mention that Arondir is a good stepparent with like references
In war:
Celeborn endures, Arondir is best at range, Galadriel was a melee up close kinda fighter. potential for Galadriel and celeborn to swap as she goes more magic focused and he runs out of bubblegum and gets ready to kick ass
