The next morning with a thunderstorm outside, barely silencing the alarm clock that lit up flashing brightly. Gizmo jumped onto the desk patting the clock into silence while Ethan sat up to a gray room, he rubbed his eyes, stretched and yawned.
His eyes dropped on his cloths for work before heading downstairs and unplugging his phone on the way out with Gizmo following along, from inside he could hear the sound of metal crashing violently against the wall and rain hitting kitchen window harshly. He poured Gizmo’s food into his bowl and fixed himself something to eat afterwards.
Tyler had already left for work. Today felt slow but as the day time passed the city became alive. The subways were packed with people who sway forward when the trains ear piercing brakes kicked in. As soon as the trains doors swung open pouring out with people.
The sound of hovering vehicles blowing hot air to the ground making the air feel humid, Ethan could point out the building he was gonna work all night till early morning. So he slipped into the alleyway that was highly suspicious. The backdoor had a single neon light that read ‘employee’s only’, a hand scanner next to the door and what looked like a door buzzer below it plus a speaker right above the button.
He doesn't remember Wiish asking for his handprint so pressing the button a couple times was his only option. No one came to the door, he pulled out his phone just about to call Wiish when the door swung open with Anti wrapping an arm around Ethan’s neck pulling him inside. From what he could tell, Anti was very drunk speaking gibberish in a non-threatening manner that made Ethan more and more anxious as he took of his coat the moment he had a chance to slip out of his grasp to put his away belongings, and Anti fell into a chair. A door swung open with music blasting through with Wiish slamming the door behind her glancing at both Ethan and Anti with relief.
“Ethan I need your help at the bar and Anti I think you had enough drinks for tonight.” She says pulling him to his feet taking away a bottle of liquor from his hand, “I think you should hed to bed.” It takes him a couple of moments before he glitches out of sight leaving Wiish and Ethan alone, she drops the bottle in a trash can, motioning to Ethan to follow her once she cracks open the door with the source of loud music blasting threw.
The moment he started to walk through the sea of people he somehow felt lost and dizzy just trying to keep up with Wiish who just glided through without a struggle, once he found his way to the back of the bar table, to help serve drinks and clean up forgotten drinks. Throughout the night he was upset with Anti for not helping Wiish, and he hoped he had a good excuse that he didn’t want to stick his nose in. The night soon started to become of blurr do to exhaustion, and the music became nothing but a muffle. He must have let his mind slip away because he realized he was sweeping up the floor to finish up before heading to the employee’s room to retrieve his belongings. Ethan was so tired that his eyes were starting to give into sleep that he just fell into the nearest chair; a hand fell on his shoulder, startling him.
He glanced up at Wiish looking not the slightest tired, “Sorry I didn’t mean to startle you.”
He rubbed his face yawning, “It’s fine, i’m so tired I didn’t even hear you come in?”
She smiled, “It's gonna feel like that the first few days,” and took a seat next to him, “I recommend sleeping till twelve.”
Ethan yawned again, “All keep that in mind.” He glanced up at the clock seeing it was about to be four in the morning, if he stays any longer his gonna end up waiting an eternity for a his train home, “Well I think it’s time for me to start heading home, good night.” He said putting on his raincoat on his way out and slowly waving goodbye without glancing back. As the door shut behind him the sound of rain surrounding him with the small noises of distant cars and subway trains near the area filled the night air. It was almost peaceful in away.
Ethan survived his first day. Wiish felt grateful at the sight that Ethan seemed less tense around her, sadly she wish she could say the same for the other two...but she hopes.
