Without my beloved anglepoise, its hard to get the right lighting conditions for a photo. Regardless, two more marines washed, with a lot of basecoats down on the rest. I didn't realise how much of my painting set up at home was put there to alleviate joint pain. My chair has shoulder support, my desk is big enough to put both of my hands down while my elbow is on the arm of my chair. The anglepoise and lighting reduces the need to crane my head to get the right light. Couple of hours listening to The Painting Phase and painting up a pair of Watchers in the Dark. I adore these little fellas, and I'm glad the Serpent's Bane are giving me the opportunity to use them as Priority Target markers. The third one hasn't been stripped yet, which gives a nice opportunity to show my current standard of painting compared to my first paint jobs as an "adult" back in 2016 or so. Half finished tester model, attempting transfers before washes and highlights rather than after, has so little colour to it that my phone's camera has entirely washed it out. Tentative steps tonight, with a view towards the triumphal return of an old project. The First Legion, the Dark Angels, is an army I've owned for many years, but never seriously played with or even painted. They hold the dubious honour of being the faction I played in my Most Memorable Defeat - a seventh edition game where my entire army was shot off the table before my first turn. To this day, the sight of a Ta'unar Supremacy suit still disgusts and afears me. The battlefield of the Horus Heresy, though, are a completely different ballgame.
