There it was. The moment Daniel had told 'real' Rashid about. 'And then at some crisis point, when I get close, it drops away, and I see a flash of the truth.' It didn't matter that he was talking to a vampire rather than a human. People were still people, and Daniel had interviewed plenty of them.
He watched with a mixture of fascination and satisfaction as Armand's body posture changed. More tense, more threatening. Visibly forcing himself to calm down. There was nothing quite so rewarding as poking the tiger with a stick and seeing the fangs bare.
"Am I?" Daniel tilted his head- the same head tilt from all those years ago, a little quirk of his that never seemed to go away. "Louis brought me here to get the truth- the whole truth. Pretty sure asking probing questions is part of that."
He scribbled a quick note for himself- a reminder to return to this subject in another day or two. He wasn't done poking-just pulling back. "So, if you don't want to talk about that, you wanna instead tell me why you didn't just tell Louis to leave? He and Claudia could have been on the next train. Problem solved.
