your voice chased away all the sanity in me
It wasn't fair that she could be here, so close to the stars in this tower given to her as her own, but that served to be more prison than home, and yet she still was so very far away. The doors had been locked for the last two days, meals brought to her at the appropriate times, and visitors disallowed. She'd not meant to upset the king, but he'd noticed her absence the last time she'd snuck out to take lessons with Rumpelstiltskin.
A queen was not to leave the castle -- she had no cause. All that she could ever want for was within these walls, he said.
Sighing deeply, the young queen turned a wistful and saddened gaze upwards towards the inky black sky dotted with twinkling lights, each one a tantalizing promise of one more thing she would never have. She wondered if she were to leap from her window if her magic might save her. Though even if it did she would still always be running from her husband.
He didn't even care enough to pretend to love her. The kindest words to leave his lips were ones of compliments. He noted her beauty, he remarked on her spirit -- but he did not care for Regina herself. She was certain.
Someone did care for her, though -- or so she believed. A man whom had stolen her heart and mind and soul, and a man who she rarely got to see. She insisted he not visit her when she was locked away. She feared being caught and watching him die. She feared so many things, really.
She feared and she longed, and as he gaze traveled down the length of the tower down to the rocky ground below, her mind very briefly questioned if any of it was worth it.
