So Prompto would follow dark!Noctis - what about the other boys? (because why wouldn't a dark!Noctis try to give Ignis his sight back? <3 Or help Gladio become stronger?) They'd basically rule the night together, right?
Hmmm, I’m afraid I’ve to disagree with you dear anon.
At least as far as I see it, the only one who would follow down Noctis to the dark side would be Prompto because he is after all a MT. He was bred in a lab n has daemon elements within him. I am horribly curious as to figure out why n how Prompto made it to the crown city, but he is essentially made to be a tool of war n a tool of the dark side aka the daemons n ardyn.
so when Noct would turn into Ardyn, I figure it’d be easy for him to drag Prompto along. It wouldn’t even surprise me if there’s some sorta sleeper trigger within Prompto that just hasn’t been activated yet (but was probably an option the game makers plannend originally). long story short- Prompto is MT n Noct would be Ardyn, so that’s a given match up.
Gladio n Iggy however are their own people, they are older n more experienced n have very strong personalities. n most of all- they are employees of the crown. they are sworn to protect n guide the prince but they are also very much adament about helping everyone else n bringing peace back into the world. i think, in a scenario where Noct would turn dark, they’d try for the longest time to bring him back into the light but eventually come to the painful conclusion that this is not possible anymore n that they have to cut him down for the greater good. it would be horrible n painful n they would do it with tears in their eyes n justified rage in their hearts, but they would still do it.
hell, if Ardyn would go the redeem route in this scenario, he might even explain to them why the only way to help him is to kill him. release him of the darkness n evil within.
not sure if Noct could cure Iggy, as you suggested, but even if he could, I think he would use this ability as a way to win them over for the dark side but Iggy would politely decline. it’s just not worth it. it’s not who he is or who gladio is. (this is also based on another theory I have regarding the cut content of the game- given what Cid said about Nocts dad n his companions, n the way some dialouges went n how Gladio behaved in the mines, it seemed to me like there was also originally an option planned where you could actually LOOSE companions. like, contiously handle shit wrong n they will leave you one by one. I was so damn anxious gladio would pack up n leave cause of all this foreshadowing Cid n Cor have done n then nothing happened. but it makes me feel like this was an option at some point. that noctis could be alone at the end if he behaves shitty. n this just shows that they don’t just blindly follow him. only prompto has the true potential to go down with him (willingly or not))
that’s at least my head canon n my conclusion through various hints from the game :)
