Great Gable-ing
In an otherwise crepe-flat and moody Alsace farming landscape, we found ourselves a hill. A small hill w/ 37m elevation gain: “Tour du Gloeckelsberg”. Rising out of Blaesheim, the Rue de la Montagne - a tiny road - leads up to a tower on top of the hill.
Everesting is a thing, but 8848m of ascent in 24 hours is crazy. So, in preparation for the #pannierhillclimb (which is a month away) we thought we’d ‘Great Gable’ the Gloeckelsberg one day this weekend instead; front-loaded with our set 2 x pannier kitlist handicap. (Great Gable, at 899m, is a popular mountain rising from Wasdale Head in the Lake District). Then we can head into the Vosges.
