This Daasanach girl lives in a most difficult environment, and holds true to her traditional culture. Even though you'll see very few other Ethiopians in her area, vans of tourists stop now and then. Each time a group of tourists step out and walk into the village, the community earns a living by being photographed, as each tourist pays a certain amount for a photograph. While we waited for the light I walked around and exposed a few frames of the village. Later that afternoon, unknown to me, the lens shutter failed and all portraits of the girls failed to develop. This gave me nothing short of a panic attack upon my return home. I then waited to hear from David at @dodgechrome regarding the film a week or so later, as he stayed after closing to process test rolls. In the end, that was the only afternoon affected and I’m blessed to have this landscape as a reminder of my visit with the Arbore community.
