Simply put, these images have been made to support the various projects within my portfolio. From schools for girls to programs designed to work within the sex trade, the foundations represented through these images have kindly provided access to populations otherwise inaccessible. The hope is that these images will move the public, increase awareness and raise funding for the projects themselves. All proceeds from the sale of the images, without expenses removed, are sent to the foundations. Detailed accounting is provided, along with images and the stories behind them. In 2007 I was fortunate enough to visit rural Kenya and a dozen or so schools. The desire of the children to learn was inspirational, in light of their difficult circumstances. The lives of children in rural Kenya are hard enough, and for these children even more so. In front of the camera however, they were themselves without reservation.

The camera/lens combination was a Hasselblad 501CM/180mm, and the frame was exposed onto Fuji's brilliant Neopan Acros 100 using natural light. Most of my work is on film, and the countries are revisited year after year in order to continue the documentation of the same families, of the same communities.

On our drive into the Cuban countryside early one morning we ran across this man. He was working at a milk collective, and was well into his 9th decade. He gave me about 5 minutes of his time, and then continued his hard work. I do hope that my portraits represent his personality well, and I also hope to see him again on my next visit to the island.

One sewing center can be funded by 10 people giving $1/day.

This includes the teacher’s salary, a dozen students, fabric and a new sewing machine for each student. We’re looking to restart 5 sewing centers in 2023.

This young girl attends a religious school in her village. Her parents don’t have much confidence in the government school and therefore do not send their children for a formal education. Thankfully the headmaster of the religious school would like to begin the government curriculum within his school. We aim to provide the funding and hope that others will help us make this work that much more successful. All interested in helping this happen fully do send me a PM and we'll make it happen. The hike had me puffing, but by the end of the afternoon the light was perfect. I climbed down to the bottom of the scene in order to make this image of the arch all on its own. In order to do so, two hours were spent and exposures were made in between people walking up to make selfies with the arch. It did give me time to reflect on this special place however, and I am eternally grateful for that. I do hope to return one day soon, and see it again before I pass on. The purpose of selling these prints on Etsy is to support the social work being accomplished through my photography. Presently we have six sewing centers in two states of India, serving both the Hindu and the Muslim communities. In these sewing centers, young women learn a trade while also making clothing for their families. The centers are located in the rural areas, where young women have only one option normally, marriage and a family. At this moment, due to COVID-19, the work is on hold. However, we plan to restart the centers in 2022 and the funds from the sale of these portraits will be applied to the work in India. Walking around the sand dunes this past September was an unforgettable experience for me. When I arrived nobody else was there. Honestly, it gave me pause and made me nervous heading out on my own. Then all of a sudden it felt right and I left the car behind and walked into the dunes. Death Valley is unlike any place I have ever seen. It gives me the feeling of being an explorer even though countless people have come before me. The rural scene is always my preference and such was the case with Turkey as well. These 12 frames were exposed over a decade ago in Muş, Turkey. We were walking around as a group of photographers and ran into a few families gathered outside. A spontaneous session emerged and this roll was the result… printed as a contact proof.
