the NET Bible. seriously. there is no translation available anywhere that comes close to providing as detailed a level of translators’ notes on virtually every translation decision (including alternatives and various witnesses). bible.org/netbible/
ARGH! I had *meant* to include the NET Bible. If you wanted to use a translation that was doing everything possible to make itself available to you and to others to use and learn and study from, there's no question that is the way to go. (Meanwhile, the NRSV folks can't even get a decent *Kindle* version together, FFS…)
