Nothing quite like the dissonance of reading a book character's name one way the whole time and then finding out the author, who CREATED said character, pronounces it a different way, and you can't say they're wrong even though your brain wants them to be wrong
So, about the part where I say they are one offs. I failed to keep them that way and now they get "names", namely the Undertaker (DP), the Justiciar (GJ), the Wanderer (BS).
They will not get a very extensive world and stories, but it exists now. Some info about them under read more:
The Undertaker was once a mortician and surgeon in a big city. Due to them unwillingly getting more involved with the local network of criminals, they moved out to a secluded area with a new identity to escape their connections. They are very cautious and come off as cold, but genuinely enjoy the act of taking care of others.
The Justiciar used to be well respected for their strict but effective law enforcing alongside their squad mates in addition to being a family of law enforcers. During a botched gang base raid that cost them their squad and reputation, a shady bounty was offered to them in exchange for their freedom and repairing their reputation to avoid disownment. They are stubborn and stick to the rules, and at the moment still come to terms about the loss of their entire squad, with the only one still accompanying them as pressure and desperation mount on them are their trusty mare Dusty.
The Wanderer is a strange fella, it's unclear what happened to him and what made him somewhat lose his treads, normally he'll be found babbling to himself all day and wanders around the town. Some that are close to him however will know the man has a heart brighter than the sun, with an unmatched skill with twin revolvers should they get hands on the weapons.
In the first panel Jason is looking over his shoulder, because in his mind the Joker is almost right behind him, coming for him again, Joker’s laughter building in Jason’s psyche.
In the second, the Joker is right there—right behind him—and Jason is thrown back years to the terrible day Joker had him and took away everything—his safety, his family, his life.
This precipitates the most dramatic dissociative episode Jason has yet been shown to have in WFA.
And I love this deep dive into the way trauma lingers with a person. Too often in media are dramatic, life-altering moments glossed over and not properly acknowledged which paints unrealistic expectations for people dealing with trauma (granted, I hope no one has the level of trauma Jason has in IRL has because o.o).
