vaptainhammer, seize-the-newsie, krokodile, darrensangryinch, glindakingofnewyork (yes i’m tagging you back deal with it), aurellharmonics, betsywolf, rebekhaleesi, ig0tfriends, hufflepuffsquee, elfuhbuh.
I saw osnesutton do this and wanted to do it myself so I got permission and then deliberately made mine in the image of their’s and so it’s 2:02 AM on Thursday morning when I am making this but I am planning to post it right before I leave for my graduation on Saturday so just know that at the time you read it, I may, in fact, be receiving my diploma.
If you are not on this list, it is not because I don’t love you. It’s probably because it’s now 2:05 AM and my mind does not work so well. Honestly, if you feel left out, do send me an ask and I will publish it with all the things I love about you so everyone knows. I may also send you an ask sooner or later with all the nice things I can cram into that space with a profuse apology for forgetting you at 2:07 AM. But without further ado, the people I do remember...
500-days-of-hannah (Hannah)
HANNAH! My dearest Hannah! Honestly, out of all of the people on this list, you and I have the best story of how we met, and I'm glad I volunteered to take that picture of you, your friend, and Betsy and even more glad that I'm tracking Betsy's tag so I saw when you posted it. I know we don't talk very much, but I'm always happy when I see you on my dash, and I know that I can come to you when something's wrong, and I'm not going to forget how I felt when I opened my inbox and saw your offer to get me a signed Toursies playbill. It may never have arrived, but it means so much to me that you tried, anyway.
aurellharmonics (Kevin)
Kevin, I know that we don't really know each other very well either, but it was so, so much fun to talk to you during the Mary Kate meet up, and I'm also going to be eternally grateful to you for introducing me to Last Five Years. I mean, if not for Last Five Years, I never would have met the aforementioned Hannah, but more than that, it's gotten me through so, so much. Even when I felt like I had no one else, I had Cathy and Jamie, and I know that's because of you. Thank you so much for sharing that with me, because to this day, it may be my all time favorite musical.
countessphoebenavaro (Rebecca)
My Droodie! Hello, Droodie! There are not very many people in this world who like Drood so we have to stick together. But even that aside, I really admire you. You're absolutely beautiful and you have more motivation in your pinky finger than I do in my entire body, and every time you're sad or lonely I just want to gather you up in my arms and tell you how amazing you are, but I never know how to, so I don't. But know that I've always wanted to.
darrensangryinch (Anna)
My Matilda buddy! Hello, Anna! There are only about five people in the Matilda fandom who are tolerable, and you are my number one! Even if you can sometimes be rash and unpredictable, I still love you so much, and it has been an absolute joy to get to know you over the past year or so. Being your PR person was a lot of fun and I really, really enjoyed that. As well, you came to my rescue so quickly when I told you what happened and I'm not going to forget that. It feels so good to know that I have you on my side, and I'm eternally grateful for it.
dodgyegg (Alex)
Alex, my precious sun child! I know we haven't talked a lot this trimester, and like not at all in the past couple of days, and after graduation we will probably fall apart, but I am very grateful for the friendship you have given me in these past four years. In Waitress, she says "I hope someday somebody wants to hold you for 20 minutes straight and that's all they do. They don't pull away. They don't look at your face. They don't try to kiss you. All they do is wrap you up in their arms and hold on tight, without an ounce of selfishness to it."
I have experienced that four times in my life, and each time it was in your arms. There was when we went to go see The Fault In Our Stars and just clung to each other for the final twenty minutes and cried, my birthday when I tried to say something about Newsies closing during Something To Believe In and started sobbing and you pulled me into a hug and just let me cry, that day during lunch when I started crying because I felt like I didn't have any friends and we were late for our next class because you hugged me and hugged me until I calmed down, and that day you were over and my dad really upset me and I started crying and you knelt down beside my chair and gave me the biggest hug in the world. I remember these moments because they mean so much to me, because you really made me feel very loved and very understood and I will miss you very much.
elfuhbuh (Cari)
Cari, my girl! It has been my absolute pleasure to bond with you over Elisabeth and Tanz and Fun Home and it's really great to feel like we have our own little corner (haha because we both saw Audrey in Cinderella, too) where no one will bother us and we can like our obscure musicals. (One of which may or may not win best musical this year but that's besides the point) and there's no one I'd rather share it with. You've always let me complain to you when I perceive I'm being mistreated, and you stood by me when no one else did. I appreciate that more than words can say.
faberritanafeelings (Name redacted by owner of name's request)
Agh, my dearest faberritanafeelings. Where do I start? I'm really glad we're friends. It's really nice to have a lesbian adult influence who's so supportive, since you know how my family isn't really supportive. And it's so cool how close you are, I do promise that one day my mom and I will come visit, but I need to get a passport or something first… And hopefully one day we'll be able to see some show together!
glindakingofnewyork (Name redacted by owner of name's request)
I'm just gonna call you Glinda here, cause that's what I called you before you told me your name. Glinda, you're a great friend and it's wonderful how supportive you are, and how you always check in every now and then to make sure I'm doing okay. It doesn't go unnoticed. It's also really fun to know I have a Bring It On fan around since that show isn't as well known!
hufflepuffsquee (Katie)
KATIE OH MY GOODNESS. Out of all of the people on this list, you are probably one of the ones I've been talking to the longest? And I honestly don't remember a time where I didn't have you around to explain concepts I don't understand as well or just to support me when I'm sad. If I'm upset, you're honestly the first person I try, and I know that you'll always answer if you can. I know that you care about me, and I care about you, too, and I'm so glad I made that stupid John Green/Avengers edit that we met because of, because even if I don't love either of those things as much as I used to, I love you. I love you a lot. Thank you so much for tagging along on this hectic ride.
ig0tfriends (Hayley)
Hayley, I don't know you nearly as well as I would like, but you're honestly a really neat girl. And I'm glad I follow you, because your posts always, always make me laugh! They never fail to brighten up my dash, and my day. You're just always thinking of something new and silly and if you look at my posts, a lot of times, I probably take Newsies too seriously (The Ballad Of Farquaad post was Chet's idea, everyone! If it's ridiculous, he was probably behind it. Or my mom.) and it's really good for me to have influences that can be a little more silly.
krokodile (Molly)
FOSSIL! :D Molly buddies! If you read this entire thing, then you know that I said there are only about five tolerable people in the Matilda fandom. And you're one of them! You're my name twin, my Matilda buddy, and I sure am glad us Mollys found ourselves, because in a lot of ways, i think, you're like my cool gay aunt that I would never actually have because my family is homophobic as hell. You're like my friend and mentor and cool aunt rolled up in one, and I'm always so so happy to hear from you.
lt-all-shade (Jazzy)
OH MY GOODNESS. OH MY GOODNESS. JAZZY. JAZZY, JAZZY, JAZZY. I don't even know where to begin with you! We have been through so, so much. Like, I met you when I was still in MIDDLE SCHOOl and now I am GRADUATING. What?! I can't believe it! I have been through so, so much since then, and you've been there for me for every turn. I'll never forget your cotillion, you looked so beautiful, and I still have Brucie on my nightstand! I was worried about seeing you again over spring break, that it might feel weird or different, but we picked up right where we left off, just sitting there playing solitaire together or looking at the statues in Oz Park or getting our cupcakes. I still use that Carousel flyer as a bookmark, and every time I see it I am filled with love for you, though I miss you every second of every day. I don't even talk to Erin or Ani anymore (gosh, I haven't even thought about either one of them in /ages/) but I think about you a lot, and the sound of your voice is one of the best sounds in the world to me and as soon as I hang up I'm sad because I already miss you and you're one of my best friends and I'm just going to stop typing now because otherwise I'll go on forever but just know that you're always going to be the Elsa to my Anna. <3 <3 <3 <3
officialpastanoodles (Danni)
Danni! My Newsies guide, my fansie friend! Fansies still scare the crap out of me, and to a degree, so do you, but you're my buddy. And I love you and think you're the bomb and I'm really grateful that you helped me get more comfortable with my identity as a fansie and I know that I wouldn't be where I am in the fandom (not that I know exactly where I am, though) if not for you, and for that, I will love you forever. (And as for not knowing where I am, I do know that I like where I am. I like making gifs and I like making people happy (or emotionally distressed. When I open my Letter From The Refuge video, all bets are off.) and talking to people about Newsies. So thank you so so so so much for that.)
rebekhaleesi (Rebekah)
Rebekah! If it's not my favorite composer! Fun fact, so I told you that I put your music on an mp3 CD, right? Yeah, my Mom went out of her way to memorize which tracks are your demo of Valentine and which one is Meghann's (74 and 88 respectively. If I get in the car and she was driving before I got in, there is a 90% chance I'm going to turn on the stereo and just hear "AND I'M DEFINITELY NOT THINKING OF YOU." and also she keeps singing along but instead she sings "So strange to leave a rock on a memory" and then looking at me and expecting me to laugh and it was kind of funny the first time but not really so funny on the twentieth.) and Chet went out of his way to memorize where Mattie's Lament and Snapchat are (79 and 83- and it was actually pretty funny because the other day we were listening to Mattie's Lament and he lost two fifty dollar bills so we stopped the car and were searching really hard trying to find it and when we finally couldn't and turned the car back on, we were greeted by Emily Skeggs singing "So you say "Crap! I guess that's that!" You build a bridge and you move on." and we all started laughing because that timing though.)
But anyway, on a note that is not how my family is reacting to your work, I'm really glad I found Before the Breakdown that one day. It's honestly gotten me through a lot, like even know, if I'm stressed or sad or just need a break from everything, I turn on Tigers. I go to it when I'm sad. Or happy. But even besides the work itself (which is just so important and like omg I am so thrilled about what you said might be happening in October because there is a huge chance I could actually go), I really like you as a person. You're smart and funny and like a wise old sage with your (always valuable) advice and consistent willingness to listen to me when I'm upset or just when I'm excited and want to tell someone something and I'm always really happy when I get a message from you and I spend so long working on my reply because I want to make sure that what I say is worth saying and I'm not wasting your time.
seize-the-newsie (Alex)
KITTY. 8D My friendsie in a frenzy! Oh my goodness girl you are like easily become one of my favorite people ON THIS PLANET and I am very glad you exist. Thank you for always listening to my gif set ideas or just letting me cry over Jacob Kemp which is apparently something that I feel a compulsive need to do at all times. This has been an adventure for me, I've never really been in a fandom like this before (and I mean both that the Newsies fandom is unique and that I'm new to being a content creator) but I would never trade it for anything and there's no one I'd rather have at my side as I face it, because you have proved yourself as a fantastic spaghetti wall and an even better friend and I never feel like I had to prove myself to you, which is a really unique feeling (like even if you look at the one right above you, I am clearly still trying to prove myself to Rebekah) but not to you, because I trust you and we are fetus buddies.
swimmingnewsie (Name redacted on the grounds that I don't know it)
Remember when I cosplayed as you? That was a fun day.
Even if we don't know each other very well, you get a spot on this list because even if Danni played the biggest part in getting me to admit that I even /was/ a fansie, you're the one who essentially took me by the hand and pointed me in the direction of other people and were like "These people are like you and they will like you, go, befriend them" and even if most of them we're just kinda mutuals who stand a respectful distance away from each other and nod in each other's direction every now and then, that makes me comfortable and I'm glad that I have people that I can nod at who will nod back every now and then and I owe that to you. You didn't owe me anything, you had no reason to do that for me, but you did. And I appreciate it so so so much, I was in a really low place at the time but you decided to pull me out and help me make friends.
vaptainhammer (Blayne)
So at the time I post this you're actually going to be here so God only knows when you'll read it but I LOVE YOU!!! You're like the big brother my big brother isn't sometimes and I'm really happy the fates aligned just right that we met because we're kindred spirits and I am so, so excited to meet you in… holy crapsicle in like 19 hours!!! What?!
You've just always been there for me, and you know how to make me laugh, and you keep an eye on Twitter accounts you probably don't even care all that much about just to make sure I know what's going on in the circles that I care about, and you always send me stuff, and I appreciate all that you do for me. It doesn't go unnoticed and I really, really love you. You're one of the best friends I have ever, ever had. <3
*stalks Anna's blog from Greece because I love her and remembered she is graduating*
Somebody decided to took pictures if Darren's butt tonight and it brought those Blaine days where everyone was obsessed with his ass and did close ups to it... To that person out there: YOU ARE GOD, THANK YOU!
