Tokyo, Japan, 1974...Daryl was given the opportunity that would forge her forever path in life...an apprenticeship with master printmaker, Hodaka Yoshida. After months of painstaking patience and instruction, Daryl was finally able to carve and print her very first woodcut, pictured here.... Due to her limited budget and resources at the time, she had to carve all her images for this first print, "shinga", on one small, paper thin piece of plywood... #woodcut #woodblockprint #woodblock #darylhoward #darylhowardart #printmaking #japanesewoodblockprint #hodakayoshida #masterprinter #masterprintmaker (at Daryl Howard Art: Japanese Woodblock Prints and Collage)
