Tumblr Controls

Recently theme makers and users have had some trouble with the tumblr controls, and it looks like tumblr have changed the code - or are currently in the process of doing so. This is why the tumblr controls work for some and not for others. 

If your tumblr controls do not work correctly

Tumblr have changed the name of the class and deleted the id on the new code. So instead of coding with the id:

#tumblr_controls

You need to change it to:

.tmblr-iframe.tmblr-iframe--desktop-logged-in-controls.iframe-controls--desktop

Or change it to one of the classes:

.tmblr-iframe .tmblr-iframe--desktop-logged-in-controls (css visible if logged in) .iframe-controls--desktop

If your tumblr controls still does not show, it might be because it’s hiding behind another div. Add this to the tumblr controls css:

z-index:999999999!important;

no 'dashboard' button on my blog!?

it's been a few days and the dashboard and customize buttons just won't appear on my page no matter how many times I refresh it... is it just me? Can you see then when you go on my blog? Does anybody else have the same problem on a secondary blog?

Hey who wants a colored follow and dashboard buttons? Add the code you want to your custom css at the bottom of the customization page under advanced. Only good on safari and chrome.

Blue on white

Black on blue

#tumblr_controls { -webkit-filter: invert(1) sepia(1) hue-rotate(100deg) saturate(5); }

Black on green

#tumblr_controls { -webkit-filter: invert(1) sepia(1) hue-rotate(30deg) saturate(20); }

Purple-ish on pink-ish

Black on light green

#tumblr_controls { -webkit-filter: invert(1) sepia(1) hue-rotate(30deg) saturate(5); }

Dark red on light red

The following aren't the prettiest colors but they were the best i could manage.

White on blue

#tumblr_controls { -webkit-filter: drop-shadow(0px 0px 0px #00ffff); }

White on green

#tumblr_controls { -webkit-filter: drop-shadow(0px 0px 0px #00ff00); }

does anyone know how to get the dashboard/customize/follow-unfollow buttons back onto a theme?

like i know that they're built into tumblr and that the theme-makers don't add them into the codes themselves, but i tweaked things on my theme like a week ago (or idek when it was), and ever since then, there have been no actual buttons at the top of my blog, so to customize it or go back to the dash you have to actually hit the address bar and manually do it and it's so annoying omfg

like i can't even delete posts off of my blog or edit them or anything because of it?  (like i literally had a post i wanted to delete and had to just change my theme just to get the buttons back just to be able to delete the post and then changed it back to this theme afterwards)

like i am seriously in love with this theme (i keep starting all my statements with "like" i'm sorry okay) so i don't want to change it, i just want to figure out a way to get the buttons back onto it D:

so if anyone knows how to do that i will forever be in your debt i will literally gif you a photoset of whatever you want lmfao yes i am that desperate pLS

UPDATE: i know that this post still gets some traffic and i still get some questions about it, so i figured i would just let you all know that the problem with my missing button was something with my coding

as you can see i have my page counter displayed at the bottom of the page, and when i originally linked it, it gave me additional <div> </div> brackets that wound up messing with my theme a lot.  so, i reformatted the link and linked it a different way (sans the <div> brackets) and that brought back my follow/dashboard/customize buttons at the top of my page!

i don't know if this is any help to any of you or anything like your problem is, but i just thought i would let you know how i fixed the problem! <3

There needs to be an "Are you sure you want to unfollow notice" why put the unfollow button, next to the dashboard button... Accidents are gonna happen!
